Question about 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe
2004 Santa Fe AWD 6 cyl. When the engine is running I hear a "whining" noise in the engine compartment. If I turn the knob that changes air flow on heat. i.e. defrost, floor, vents etc to the off position. As soon as I turn it to any other position in heat or AC the noise starts again. The noise is coming from the passengers side towards headlight area of the engine compartment. Any ideas? My email is firstname.lastname@example.org if anyone knows of a solution
I suspect it is the blower fan and the ductwork for the air intake to the blower picks up the air in front of the engine compartment.
It would also be a good idea to have your alternator checked and use the A/C heat controls to see how much the blower motor is demanding from the alternator. Autozone and Oreillys will check the alternator on the car for free.
