Ok. have you or anyone replaced it recently? the upper seal has been updated by gm to help resolve air leaks that allow for drainback. if has been changed make sure upper seal is laying flat and lubed before installing so it stays seated flat. make sure the water sensor in the bottom is snug and the water drain is tight. remember there is no pressure on this unit, only vacume on the filter. for this to leak down it MUST have a air leak... i can get you a updated part#if you like for a delco. also make sure your not double gasketed. good luck and let me know if i can help more

Here is the best way I know of to find a 'leak' like you are experiencing. You need to unhook the fuel line as close to the fuel pump as possible. Then, you get a small 'portable air tank' And charge it to 60 PSI. Make a connector that you can hook onto the fuel line and charge it with air pressure. In a QUIET location, listen for the air leaking out, there's the problem. That's where your fuel system will '**** in air when it's pulling fuel and your['re running. You should see fuel leakage there also.
Works every time!

Ran out of diesel now vehicle won't start

This is not unusual on a diesel. What happens is there is air in the system. If this vehicle has an electric fuel pump loosen line where fuel enters injection pump then turn ignition key to the on position and watch for fuel to appear and then quickly tighten line before turning off key. Then try to start. If does not have electric fuel pump will need a second person. One will loosen line and watch while other cranks vehicle until you get fuel and tighten line before the other person releases ignition switch unless vehicle starts first. If that doesn't do the job do this where line hooks onto each injector. Probably will not have to do this to all injectors but could run rough until all the air gets out of everything. I have farmed with diesel tractor for 25 years and dad I drove the gm vehicles with the 5.7. You normally don't start a diesel without bleeding the air out of the lines although some will self bleed most won't. Hope this does the trick.

Gas was put in tank ,we are draining tank, was only run about 500 feet, what should we do to make sure engine is flushed

Disconnect your fuel line from the Fuel tank, take off the fuel filter and allow it to drain. Renew fuel filter and fill filter cup with diesel. Open line going to the injectors from the filter cup and allow to drain. Turn on the ignition while the line is disconnected and allow the pump to flow clearing any residual gas, do not crank the engine. With the fuel line disconnected from the injector, remove the glow plug relay. Crank the engine several times for 10-15 seconds at a time to cycle the fuel through without spark. Re-connect the fuel lines and replace the relay. Make sure that you have primed your fuel system as if you had ran out of fuel which by this point it already should be. Start the engine and run for 5 seconds, shut off, repeat this start cycle several times and you should be good.

I have an '02 sierra 2500 HD 4x4. When i try starting it takes quite a few cranks to start and it is usually sluggish for a few seconds after it starts. Sometimes it will start normal but more often it...

could be stopped up air filter, fuel filter, or weak fuel pump...try cycling the ignition on several (3 or 4) times and see if it starts any faster...sign of a weak fuel pump.

My 2500 chey silverodo starts hardfor the first 10

Hi, if it's a diesel engine, they all have to sit for some seconds because of the glow plugs. Some diesel don't send power to the starter until the glow plugs run for the pre-determined amount of time. There are many things that could be causing this. Fuel filter, clogged injectors, fuel pump going bad or bad connection to fuel pump. Try checking out for this things..
Take care

I need to replace the fuel filter on my 2003 GMC Sierra 2500 HD Duramax Diesel 6.6L. Please tell me how to do it.

ITS A SPIN ON FILTER, YOU NEED TO DISCONNECT THE WATER SENSOR ON THE BOTTOM OF THE FILTER, THEN USING A STRAP FILTER WRENCH LOOSEN THE FILTER AND SPIN IT OFF.

CHECK THE FILTER HOUSING TO BE SURE THE INNER FILTER SEAL ISN'T ON THE HOUSING AND CAME OFF WITH THE FILTER.

REMOVE THE WATER LEVEL SENSOR AND DISCARD THE SEAL.

INSTALL THE WATER LEVEL SENSOR ON THE NEW FILTER. USING A LITTLE GREASE ON THE INNER FILTER SEAL AND ON THE OUTER O-RING TO HOLD IT IN PLACE, SPIN ON THE NEW FILTER.

OPEN THE VENT ON THE UPPER SIDE OF THE FILTER HOUSING. PUSH DOWN ON THE HAND PUMP QUICKLY UNTIL THE FUEL IS COMING OUT OF THE VENT. CLOSE THE VENT AND PUMP THE FILTER PUMP UNTIL IT FEELS SOLID. AT THIS POINT START THE ENGINE. IF IT STALLS PUMP IT UP AGAIN AND RESTART THE ENGINE. IF YOU HAVE AN ASSISTANT THEY CAN PUMP THE FILTER PUMP WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING AND QUIT WHEN YOU FEEL THE ENGINE IS NOT GOING TO STALL. ABOUT 10 TO 15 SECONDS USUALLY WORKS.

CHECK FOR LEAKS.

BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINE USE BRAKE WASH TO REMOVE THE FUEL SPILLED DURING THE FILTER REPLACEMENT. ALLOW IT TO DRY BEFORE STARTING THE ENGINE.

RATE ME PLEASE.

2005 Dodge 2500 just stopped and acts like it is

first place to look would be your lift pump (fuel pump located behind the fuel filter housing). listen to it when you turn the ignition on, it should run for a few seconds and if you bump the starter it should run for about 30 secs. if you dont hear it running that is most likely your problem
