Question about 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer
I have a 02 trailblazer, a few months ago the alt guage was going between 14 and 12. i changed the alt twice, and its still doing that. i have checked all wires and bought new battery. still doing the same thing, it does not do it all the time, sometimes can go weeks with out it acting up.but all last week its been doing it and the guage stays at 12. this morning i went to take the kids to school, started it and was sitting there waiting for them to come out. it just died, no lights on the dash came on saying check engine. i turned the key off and back on and it started right up. i just turned it off and went in the truck. anyone have a clue? it is not the wires, altinator, battery, belt or any fuses.(under hood or dashboard) when im driving at any speed the guage goes down and you can feel a hesitation in the motor from loosing power. is there anything that else that could make it do this? thanks to all who reply!!!
The alt variation is normal. When under load or not under load, the amps will fluctuate. If anything else, the voltage regulator is faulty. Or, there is a faulty relay somwhere

Do you ever have to jump because of dead battery? You could have a bad dash gage. I'd would go to an Auto zone parts store get a free alt & battery test to verify good charge, I'd would also check belt & serpentine belt tensioner make sure they are not slipping when all accessories are on. Gage should not go below 12volts & not above 14.5 volts. Also the alternator on your truck has an internal voltage regulator So ignore MNfishman you changed out the alternator twice
