Question about 1995 Chrysler Concorde

Open Question

Lights on the shift selector are ALL ON, and won't shift out of 1

P, R, N, D, 2, and 3 are all illuminated on the shift selector in the instument panel. The car won't shift out of 1st. I parked it a year ago because of lack of funds and now have the need for a car and the funds. I would like to eliminate some probable causes myself before contacting a transmission expert. I think I may have an electrical problem and have no idea where to start. Please advise.

On your vehicle there is a shifter interlock system ,it's a safety feature . Doesn't allow shifter to be put into gear if your foot isn't on the brake pedal .

2010 merc gm shift lever stuck in park car will start steering wheel turns

You have a shift interlock problem . What kind of vehicle ? a mercury what ?
Shift Interlock System
The shift interlock system prevents shifting from PARK unless the brake pedal is depressed. The shift interlock system consists of a shift lock actuator mounted on the selector lever. If the ignition switch is in the RUN position, the shift lock actuator is disabled when the brake pedal is depressed.
If the selector lever will not move out of PARK with the key in the ON position and the brake pedal depressed, it will need to be unlocked manually.
Do the brake lights work ?
Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage; refer to the following chart:

Visual Inspection Chart Mechanical Electrical
  • Damaged shift lock actuator
  • Damaged transmission control (TC) switch
  • Damaged shift interlock switch
  • Failed fuse(s):
    • F20 (10A)

1999 Cadillac Seville STS. Why won't it shift?

Check that your brake lights are working, they must for gear to be engaged. Also, it might be a gearbox issue. Matbe the selector has gone wrong.
If it is staying in only one gear, are any of the lights on the dash illuminated that were not so before..

Chrysler town& country modle 1997 transmission cannot shift into L and 3

Could be a couple things. It could be that the transmission selector switch is bad,or is not making a good connection at the connector.Or,it could be in the steering column, that the selector/shifter control is broken.
