SOURCE: I need to know where the tps is on a 2000 ford

Hi,
I believe a picture's worth a thousand words.
I went to Autozone's website to obtain a picture of the TPS (though I wasn't sure of your engine size).
This is the image of the part. Hopefully you can spot it on the top of your engine:

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/catalog/accessories/accProductDetails.jsp?displayName=ThrottlePositionSensor&itemId=289-10&navValue=100289&parentId=8-10&productId=896708&fromString=search&itemIdentifier=896708_0_0_&filterByKeyWord=throttlepositionsensor&categoryNValue=100008&store=1538&skuDisplayName=ThrottlePositionSensorfor2000CFMThrottleBody&categoryDisplayName=Performance&_requestid=2211450

Hope this helps... Good luck!

TPS = Throttle Position Sensor. it used to monitor the position of the throttle in an engine. it usually located on the butterfy spindle so it can directly monitor the position of the throttle valve.

How do you change the tps on a 2000 jeep grand 4.7

The exact placement of the throttle position sensor generally is located on the side of the throttle body below the air intake tube on top of the engine.

To replace simply remove the air intake duct (usually one plastic screw), locate the sensor, disconnect wire plug in, remove the two sensor mounting screws (torx screw variety, size not remembered) and the sensor will come off. When replacing be sure to line up the throttle shaft with the proper groove inside the sensor...it should just slip in there pretty easily with a little bit of wiggling. Reinstall doing the reverse of the above.

Take's about 5 - 10 min to replace from start to finish and remember to clean the throttle body before starting this job to ensure no dirt will enter the engine. Good luck, Merry Xmass

I have a 2000 ford expedition w/ 4.6 l, engine will start but will not idle.I have to press on gas pedal to keep engine from dying also seems to be surging at 500 rpm.there is no misfire and runs smoothely...

The TPS sensor (or Throttle Position Sensor) is bad locate it and replace, it is located where the rubber air intake hose meets the intake manual, look for a wireand plug, also to make sure it is this sensor bring the truck to an Auto Zone and have them read any stored trouble codes for free this should confirm the faulty TPS.
