There could be a good chance that the fuel filter may be at the end of it's life and may need to be replaced. If the fuel filter should be replaced every 30,000 miles or once a year to ensure that the fuel is not restricted to the fuel injector to keep the engine running. Start with replacing the fuel filter first, it's simple and the most inexpensive that you can do your self. Good luck and hope this help's, keep me posted be glad to know your truck is running 100% again.

My old (93) Grand Cherokee did this several times. First, when the computer died. Second, when the contact strip on the distributor rotor fell off (the carbon track on top of the rotor actually kept the engine running but it idled somewhat poorly). The last time the bolt holding the distributor broke off and the distributor was bouncing up and down on the cam gear.
It might also be a fuel pressure issue.
Has it set any codes? That might simplify matters.
Jeeps are loads of fun, good luck.

I will be driving down the road and my jeep will just die on me and I can't get it started again. I wait about an hour and it will suddenly start.Happens about 2-3 times a week and I can't figure out what...

Most often that is a symptom of a fuel pump beginning to fail. As it runs, it begins to overheat and bind. After it cools down, it frees itself up and then works again. However, the same problem can also be caused by a crank position sensor going bad.
Next time it happens, turn the key on while someone listens to hear if the pump (inside the tank) is running. If not, likely that's what is failing.
Crank sensor can be tested with a digital ohmmeter, but many times it will not show up as bad until it completely fails.

Shuts off will driving, especially if I hit a bumpy road.

check the wires to the fuel pump if they have rubbed against something and the insulation wore through hitting bumps or rain could cause it to short and kick the relay and resets again and will start

Runs rough and stalling

Sounds to be related to a fuel or an ignition issue. Check out the history on the vehicles maintenance. Look at when the last COMPLETE tune-up was. Can check fuel line pressure, for a clogged CAT or defective muffler. If the engine light is on while it is running then you have stored code/s, if so then have them read. This will help you in finding the source of your Jeep's problem.

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee stalling and not starting

Since you've replaced many of the usual suspects (fuel pump etc.) you might want to look into testing or simply replacing the crankshaft position sensor or the camshaft position sensor. If you intermittently lose one the these signals it would cause the problem you describe.

1999 jeep cheroke sport died while driving and wouldn't restart.

i had the same thing happen last year. it was a bad chip. i had to take it to the dealership to have the chip replaced. it cost about 200.00. it was not a big deal at all. after that though, my freeze plug busted and my alternator went out. but now all those problems are fixed. how come when you get a car paid off, everything starts going wrong??
