Question about Cadillac CTS

1 Answer

Starting disabled... problem started about 3 weeks ago. Replaced battery with new battery and followed the 3 steps to reprogram the key. Drove car approximately 2 days and problem happened again. reprogramed keys and drove another 2-3 days and same thing happened. Last evening reprogramed keys, car sat until this evening, and now starting disabled again. The battery seems to be fully charged and even when car was running at idle, the alternator appeared to be charging ok, but still having this problem. Tonight when I discovered the "starting disabled" status, I check the battery and it seems to be fully charged. Is there something else that needs reprogramed or checked?

I will give dealership a call and check it out. Sounds like it may be the solution.

Ok i was surfing the service bulitons on this type of issue and i find that there is alot of plroblems with the memory moduel you might want to talk to your dealer about service bulletin # 09-08-50-002 this should clear up the prblem with little cost the memory moduel from time to time goes bad on this model and creates a parisidic drain you will have to do battery draw test on the car to see if this is the current problem... if you need anything else feel free to replay and ill check back in later on.. good luck Dave.

Went to gas station after half hour drive. Went to start wouldn't start. Coding p1610 lock code. Why would it do this after I already drove it. Doesn't make sense to me. 2005 Nissan Altima 2.5

Tech notes This code is usually triggered when a not registered or damaged key is used to start the engine. When the starting operation is carried out five or more times consecutively with the same unregistered key, the system will lock. If the problem occurs try disconnecting the car battery for about 30 minutes and then try starting the engine with a known registered key. If the problem persist you have to have the dealer erase the code and reprogram the keys again.

If problem persist after disconnecting the car battery, try the following:

ESCAPE FROM LOCK MODE
1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
2. Turn ignition switch ON with registered key. (Do not start engine.) Wait 5 seconds.
3. Return the key to OFF position.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 twice (total of three cycles).
5. Start the engine.

Remote key

Yes - Sometimes when the battery is replaced the key program can be corrupted. It would be a starting point to have the key reprogrammed just to eliminate it as a source of trouble.

I have a 2006 new beetle, just put in a new battery about a week ago. It drove fine. My problem is, the car won't start when i turned the key. I tried many attempts, but just won't budge. Is

Hi there, with this kind of problem in general, you have to look on any source from where your battery is being drained. Check your new battery if it is drained again. If the voltage is below 12V means there is a close circuit that is using your battery while it is stopped. Recharge your battery and try starting your car or ask a friend to jump your car. If it wont start check your starter motor. Another factor to think of is maybe your alternator is not charging your battery.

Chrysler Intermittent Starting Problem

I have the same problem with my 2004 Chrsyler Concorde, however mine didn't start doing this until a recall involving reprogramming the cam shaft sensor was done. But I have exact same issues and no trouble codes appear for dealer either. My guess is that it is the cam shaft sensor, which I am going to get replaced. If you solve yours first, please post and let me know.

Jaguar s/type wont start had flat battery now replaced x.reg 2000

Yes the key needs to be reprogramed to the car. Unfortunately that will have to be done by the dealer. Make sure that you have plenty of proof that you are the owner. They will reprogram it but you will not take posession of the car until you prove it is yours.
