Question about 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Jeep dosn't start after travelling home from work (30 minutes)

Ok my problem is very similar. It appears that when I drive home from work on warm days my Jeep will not restart. I have had it in the shop twice and each time it started immediately for them. It was the next morning. The past two times I left the Jeep all night and then next morning it started without a problem. This happened last night. The engine appeared to be warm and I checked to see if I had enought coolant and I did. I have a remote starter and the Jeep dealership said to try it when it wouldn't start. The Jeep dosn't make a sound when I try to turn it over. The dealership thought it was the starter and replaced it around a year ago. It has still happened. I told my co-workers and they think it is electrical. I think it is related to the Jeep installed remote starter. I had problems with that, but they fixed it and it has worked well. I do need it as it gets to -40 Celcius in the Winter LOL. What do you think?

I am no Honda expert, but a similar problem happened to my ex sister in-laws Ford Taurus. The speed odometer would jump around and it had trouble shifting (automatic transmission). After driving it I changed out the speed odometer sensor on the transmission and it's been fine ever since. I changed out the sensor because if the cars computer cannot tell how fast the car is traveling then fail safes in place go into effect and the computer will do it's best to keep the cars rpm's down based on the speed indicator and not let it shift or shift properly either. If it's getting false speeds then it will shut down the motor when the speed gets to high and allow it to run as the speeds fall (jumping speed odometer needle). It effects the transmission shift points also. It will either shift erratically or not shift out of say 2nd gear, so that the cars engine can't get damaged based on what signal the speed sensor is sending the computer.

Did you check your battery cables? If they are loose or corroded you may not be getting a good connection, and of course it takes less power to start a car on a warm day than a cold one.

My 1996 jeep grand cherokee is blowing cold air for the first 30 minutes of my ride home (20-degree weather), then warms up slightly but never gets hot -- i'm guessing heater core (it has 200k+ miles)

It is most likely a thermostat. As your car gets older the thermostat begins to lose its spring like properties and stays open all the time causing your car to never warm up.

If you can't tackle right away, start your car in the morning and let it run for about 15 minutes to warm up. Be sure to turn the heat on full blast and recirculate the air.

Car not starting or turning over indicates towards multiple possibilities. It can be issue with battery or weak battery. But if battery checks out ok, then it can be starter issue or faulty alternator or problem with low fuel pressure or no spark at spark plugs due to dirty spark plugs or faulty ignition coil or injectors getting cracked or dirty and needs to be cleaned.

To confirm the problem, the basic troubleshooting is required.
