First, test the battery as the gentleman below suggested. Next, I had a problem similar and the dealership in Germany said a common problem has to do with the pin wire connector on the starter. It gets hot, then the connector gets loose and shorts. After a time, the car will randomly start or not start (this was my problem). After several weeks at the sucky AAFES mechanics, I had it towed to the dealer who replaced the pin (about 80 euro) and it ran like a top. Try that first. It may save you a lot of $.

Your starter may (gasp!) be busted. Or your solenoid may be busted. Or your battery terminals might just be dirty enough that you aren't getting enough power to the starter solenoid.
Check with a voltmeter, should have the same voltage (14V. is a nice number) at the positive battery terminal and the battery side of the solenoid. Have someone turn the key to start and check the little wire on the solenoid for 14V. If it's there, the solenoid is bad. If it isn't the problem is in the switching circuit. Try connecting a remote starter button from the "hot" cable to the small contact on the solenoid. (Don't use a screwdriver or a quarter like I did one day on my old flatbed) If the solenoid is working you will hear a click and find 14V. on the starter side of the solenoid. That means your starter is kaput.

The starter is gone replace starter and will start just fine. Push starting does not require the starter just key in on position. There is one other possibility that the neutral safety switch is malfunctioning.

Sounds like a bad starter. Happened to my dad with his Infinity G20. those cars are sweet! If you know anyone mechanical I would recommend asking them to check it out, mechanics often lie about the problem to get more money out of you. Hope this helped!

I have a Nissan NP 200 1.5 Dci that will not start with the starter being cranked, but will start when kick started.

Has the ignition switch been tested? It is a known problem that the switch drops out the ignition circuit power during cranking, result is a crank and no start. The switch is what is turned by the ignition key cylinder.

Lights comme on but wont start ignition or starter

what lights? name them>?
what year caar.
the word is CRANK does the engine crank fast?
no cranks. (if it cant crank it cant start, unless like my M/T pushed or gravity started)
1: check fuses first.
2: jumper cable crank it. that work>?
if not say so.
yes, then your battery was dead for 3 reasons. ask.
no, then the starter need to be hot wired and tested. for bad key line.
will it crank in A/T neutral , not using PARK
as the operators guide shows?

93 Geo Storm standard Transmission 1.6 Engine Lately I have to push start it Replaced ignition switch Checked all the fuses Starters good Help 48 disabled female

bad fuel, is it old? fuel.
needs tuneup, air cleaner and spark plugs , at least.
if the starter cranks fast and dont' start,
but does push started. that means the spark is weak
when cranking, and marginal spark plugs can do that.
this car is really (under Geo snake skins) a
an Isuzu Impulse
and Isuzu is defunct there too. (double bad)

now my real guess......analysis...
im not sure your order stated.
the engine would not crank over with a key before the new switch or after?
and "starters good", does that mean , it still fails to crank start with key
but the hot wiring of starter does?
try this:
tell use what happens when you turn the key, is best.
I turn the key, and i get the dash board to light up,
lots of lights. and the CEL LaMP GLOWS.
the CEL lamp, means the ENGINE brain is alive.
then you turn the key to cranks (start) position.
  1. nothing happens.
  2. it only clicks
  3. it cranks slowly,
  4. it cranks fast, just like a new car does. fast. cranking.

1,2,3,4.?

and does jumper cable starts work>?
if this works , your battery is low. , discharged or dead, or bad.
if the battery keeps going low, its bad, or the alternator fails to charge the battery, or you have phantom drains , discharging it as you sleep.

my guess, (based on most common)
is #3, slow cranks, and spark plugs are long since gone.(fouled and gaps no longer in spec>)

2004 grand am se v6 sometimes wont start unless gas pedal is pushed

when you say -turn over do you mean firing-turning over to me means the starter motor is cranking or turning over-firing is when combustion happens in the cylinders-as far as the cranking continuing-try some wd40 in the ignition switch-it may be hanging up-Denny

Car won't start without a jump but battery okay

wont crank or wont start.??
no car starts , if it cant crank. (unless push starter (M/T magic)
that is not a trans sensor its the PRN switch.
ill answer for, wont CRANK !
it wont crank even with a good battery (charged) or jump started.
1: bad start
2: bad wires to same.
so hot wire the starter small wire, the key start line is tiny.
cranks. , starter good, no crank starter bad or cables bad.
if it cranks hot wired, then the key line is dead.
easy, huh?

There should be an override switch - either you push it or toggle it - on the left side under the dashboard (next to your left leg) on the wall -- it is very small and kind of hidden. Put your key in the ignition and turn all the way up to cranking but do not crank. While it is there, push/toggle the override switch and while it is pushed, start the car. it will start

Not an expert on non-us Nissans, but there should be a clutch switch to prevent you from cranking the engine in gear.
I would check the circuit with that switch.

Let's start with something simple. Have someone turn the key to the "crank" position while you tap the starter with a hammer to see if it engages. You will probably see that it will engage and start. If this becomes the case, replace the starter. If you need instructions, let me know and I can get these to you.
