Question about 1996 Ford Windstar

1 Answer

My 1996 Ford Windstar Will Not Start....

My van was running fine & I was checking my fuses. I'm sure they all went back correctly & I have no blown fuses. When I tried to start may van afterward it did not start.
All other electronic features like radio, wipers, ac & all the rest is working as normal.
When I try to start the motor all of the dash light & bell turn on as usual, but the engine does not even turn over. There are no noises what so ever.
I am very upset, because all I did was check the fuses & now the van does not turn over.
Somebody HELP PLEASE....

Take all the fuses out and check them one by one and re install them and replace the blown fuse .
Tap on the relays to unstuck them .
Clean the batery terminals with sand paper .
Check the rear light and brake bulbs and sockets.

Started when van quit running just a mile from home. all indications was fuel pump went bad. pulled it home and checked fuses. ok. tried starter fluid and it acted like it would start but it didn't. pulled...

What indications ? all indications was fuel pump went bad.?? With out doing a fuel pump pressure an flow testing , guessing is all your doing . An if the guy you took it to can't diagnose for sure he is no mechanic . If there is no fuel pressure an the fuel pump is new , the thing to do would be to find a wiring diagram an check power an grounds also the fuel pump relay inside the constant control relay module . CCRM Google it .

2001 ford windstar, van has been setting for a year, got my license back and went to start the van, no fuel pump noise, replaced fuel pump, started just fine drove it around for a day parked it now wo

Can you hear the fuel pump run, if not it may have failed again. I have seen new fuel pumps last a day or two and then fail. If your pump is working then replace the fuel filter. Anytime you open the fuel system, you should replace the filter.

I HAVE A 1998 WINDSTAR I NEED TO KNOW WHAT AMPS THE RELAY FUSES ARE MY PROBLEM IS I HAD SOMEONE CHECK THE FUSES BECAUSE MY WINDOWS AND WIPERS WOULDNT WORK THE WAS A RELAY FUSE MISSING THE PERSON WHO...

The relays are pretty fool proof--not like fuses where they have different amperages. Switching fuses or relays will not drain the battery. OK, so you have a new battery and alternator, right? And the car is not starting? And you think it's because the battery has drained? Is anything else not working right now? I can send you some troubleshooting steps, but I want to be clear on what the current circumstances are.

1996 Ford Windstar Van 3.8 engine, cranks but but start. I Checked all the Fuses, all good seems to have NO fire

sounds like a fuel issue, you can get a can of wd-40 and spray it into the intake and see if wants to start, if it does then it is a process of fuel line, fuel filter, or fuel pump. Hope this helps Tim

Start up 1996 ford windstar ,runs great, get the van up to operating temp, shut off van and try to restart 15 mins later its very hard to start.....if you leave it and come back when it's cold it will start...

Not your camshaft sensor, it would not even start. Your going to have to get it scaned, but I'm thinking it may be your EGR system.

If you are comfortable performing some basic checks prior to resorting to the Ford Dealer then try pulling a vacuum on the EGR valve to make sure the pintle moves freely in both directions. While you're at it, make sure all vacuum hoses and system components hold a vacuum. Inspect the EGR valve visually for coking and contamination. Check EGR solenoids and the position sensor for electrical continuity.

Good luck and hope this helps.

98' Ford Windstar has a spongy brake

Have you had anyone try to clean and adjust the rear brakes? You will need a shop to scan the van for ABS codes first to cure the ABS light.
