Question about 1996 Lexus GS 300

1 Answer

I know it has something to do with transmission

I was driving, came to a stop light, on the green light i gave it some gas and it accelerated very slow and the car doesnt seem to switch gears, i go 40 mph tops for fear of breaking something, BUT when i turn off the engine for a few minutes it goes back to normal for a while then i have to pull over and repeat. what seems to be the problem? and what kind of cost am i looking at to repair?

Those g300s have problems with their mass air flow meters, which gives the same problems that your describing. It's located on the intake tube that runs to the motor. this is the most likely cause, but there are about 30 different problems it could be. But the mass air flow see how much air is coming into the motor and compensates with fuel to run. but when that fails there is a great loss in power. But I would start there. It's hard to be certain just talking on the internet. But that is where i would put my money. Hope this helps

2006 Mercury Sable just stopped accelerating when driving and the transmission light came on. I put transmission fluid in and it still will not accelerate. Any suggestions

try running the fault codes to find the sensor/servo/ solenoid that is not working
if it drives but does not accelerate it could be a servo /solenoid or a TCM failure no communicating with the ecm due to bad harness connections or other wiring problem

When I speed up to pass on freeway; 2x when I sped up from a red light, my titan revved but barley accelerated; engine not missing;trani not slipping when driving; no noises any suggestions?

Automatic I presume? While you claim the transmission is not slipping, the symptoms seem to point in that direction. The "punch" it, increases the load on the transmission. This behavior also points to drive line (transmission problems. It may be too late, but professional service may save the transmission.

Tried to get on the freeway in my 2002 lincoln ls gave the car more gas to speed up and transmission did not responed. pulled over and now the car won't move. when I put it in drive I can feel it

check your transmission fluid level. It is better not to force it just load it to a recovery service track and take it to a qualified garage where they will check the pressure and serviceability of your automatic gear box. Looks like you have a problem with the gear box, is slipping on acceleration.

I have a 95 cavalier. I have had a new control module and 2 new coils installed. I have new spark plug and wires. I have a new heat sensor. My problem is. Im driving down the road and my idle is rough at...

There is a part called a throttle positin sensor which would do very much as you described it.The sensor cannot detect how much gas you are giving it nor does it know how much gas is being delivered. It is also an input for the control module which tells the rest of the system how to react. The symptoms of sudden acceleration and slowness could also be the transmission(not very likely though),but the rough idle and strange acceleration appear to be more likely the sensor. The transmission would likely have other symptoms such as rough shifting, gears winding out if you know what I mean, shifting back and forth between gears at a certain speed in which you are just at the same speed, meaning not accelerating or slowing down, say just cruising at 35 mph. Also, there are no lights because the check engine light HAS to be the worst thing ever invented for a car.It illuminates for things even when your car is running fine, but you would think for something like your situation,SOMETHING would illuminate.People have spent thousands replacing everything which the computer tells them from the check engine light diagnostic, yet it remains on.I have seen it.If you are in the USA,call any AAA approved shop and they would likely say something similar.Good luck,Greg

Is your car an automatic? how long were you driving before this happened? could be the plates that push the automatic gears into place. I've had the same happen to me on a ford. I needed a transmission service regardless of how the oil was.
It's hard to tell something is wrong with the transmission specially when its warm as the plates woudl have expanded by then.

it could be something wrong with your transmission unit, if you have an engine analyser it should be able to tell your the error code/problem with your car.

Loud screeching noise coming from car after stops.

the screeching noise is most likely caused by a slipping belt or pully. transmission probably needs fluid and filter changed.
