Question about Isuzu VehiCROSS

I have the engine stripped in a isuzu npr light commercial truck with engine type 4JJ1E4N a 2008 vehicle, having trouble with the timing on the two over head cam shafts and intermediate gear.The sprockets on each cam and intermediate will rotate against each other.How do u time them and what is the reason for this.

    i understand what ur saying but it is double over head cam and on each sprocket their are 2 sprockets spring loaded u can be a tooth out very easily. The front part of the sprocket rotates against the back part of the sprocket. Its very unusual i think its got something to do with back lash.

    Sorry there is 2 sprockets on each cam which is spring loaded a locking tool between the two cams wont sort it , well its one sprocket but the front part turns on each cam and intermediate gear about 2 teeth

On the sprokets, there are little marks, they match up together. This allows valves on both heads to open in syn. Like both open on intake stroke, and so on.

The reason for this is the cam grind and valve springs and the way the cam timing is set up, just off center of lobe peak, there is a special tool to hold the cam pulley's once they are positioned right, it goes between them and lock them together to prevent rotating, suggest you improvise or buy a universal cam pulley holding tool, I have never seen one but know tool dealers sell them like Snap-On and MAC tool and others like KD tools...

For the crank shaft, there is a mark on the oil pump gear which should be straight up, same as the key way if you want to go by that. On the cam the pulley has a mark that should be pointing straight up toward the "V"
in the cover behind the pulley.


more detailed:---
put both sprockets on then turn them so that the dot on the crank sprocket is straight up and the dot on the cam sprocket is straight down. Remove the cam sprocket, put the chain around it and slip the chain around the crank sprocket while placing the cam sprocket back into position, being careful to maintain the orientation. see both dots are straight up. You would know right away when you adjust the valves because you would be assuming #1 was up for compression, and one of the rockers would be down to push the exhaust valve open. Rotate the crankshaft one revolution and readjust the valves.

we dont have this engine here, I think,... but id have to drive to ISUZU and ask them and buy the book.

I don't know how to change fuel pressure regulator in my Isuzu 2007 NPR can somebody give me a hand on that


this is no heavy truck forum. its only light and cars.
NPR what, (the number)
and what engine? fuel parts match up to and engine.
no year NPR. wow. and have gas or diesel engines.
no fuel stated either.
NPR started in USA in 1985 (this is USA forum)

2005 Isuzu npr 5.2 limp mode problems


IN that event you might also have a check engine warning light or other significant warnings on the dash.

The computer sends the vehicle into limp mode to protect the engine and /or transmission from damage due to a fault or faults it has detected in the system.

You need to get the vehicle to a good workshop where they will scan it for faults and see what other irregularities there are with the driveline operation, in particular the engine.

UNTIL you address the problems and have them fixed the vehicle will stay in limp mode or, in the worst case, the computer may ultimately shut it down altogether and you won't be able to start it again. So have it looked at by a competent ISUZU truck as soon as you can.
