The first thing is to have the computer scanned for codes. the check engine light should also be on with the engine idle too high.Scanning for codes is the best first step in finding the problem. this could be caused by a vacuum leak or bad throtle postion sensor or mass air flow sensor and more.Go to an auto zone or other auto parts store ,they will scan the codes and give you a print out of the codes. get me the codes and i will try to help you solve this problem.
THE FACTORY KEY FOBS ARE IDENTIFIED BY
THE NUMBER OF BUTTONS AND THE NAME ONE THE BACK
IE: DENSO, TRW, TOYOTA,NGK OR BOSH
BUT THE REMOTE THE YOU DISCRIBE SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE AN AFTER MARKET REMOTESTART/ ALARM SYSTEM
can't tell you exactly where it is, but it will be on the first section of the exhaust (usually within a fooy or so of the manifold). There are a few types of Lambda sensor but they basically do the same thing. If you are a bit of a handy man, consider buying a universal sensor off ebay, they are much cheaper and just as good. You will have to use your original connector, so you'll need a pair of snips and some electrical connectors (scotch blocks etc)
In your ebay search type "universal lambda sensor"
