Question about 1993 Ford Econoline

1 Answer

My 1993 econoline van has a water leak that I can see behind the plastic thing that covers the air filter. It is leaking at the metal part of a black hose at the top near the hood. Is this something I can repair fairly easily? I have tools but I do not know much about it. It drains my overflow but so far my radiatior has not emptied.

Hi this van has a lot of hose in that area you have to take apart the filter housing and look in closer if it's behind the fan then it could be the water pump good luck

Fuel leak center of vehicle

This is on an Econoline van right? If so then to my way of thinking it could be one or two things. Most likely is a leaking fuel line, or your fuel filter is not seated properly, or the fuel filter has developed a leak.
Oh thats three things, if your driving the car just start it in Park and try to locate the leak, if your lucky you may have to push the fuel filter into its connection till it is tight, eliminating the leak. Otherwise you may need to replace some fuel line which you may not want to do, shouldn't be to expensive to ask a mechanic.

Hi, it could be your intake gaskets leaking,or a upper freeze plug you can go to your local auto parts store that has loaner tools and use a coolant pressure tester and put pressure on system do not put more pressure then your radaitor cap says . When you pressure test system it will show you where your leak is with out the van running. If i can help you any more just re post.

Oil Leak on engine drips down from oil filter area, possibly behind manifold. Any common leak problems on this engine?

I would say the rear Valve Cover Gasket is leaking. Common problem on this model. They get old and brittle and...leak.

Heat in a Econoline 150 just stopped. Blows out cold air. Dont have fuse diagram where do I find one

I'm not sure your problem is a blown fuse. If the blower motor is running and pushing out air, then it's working normally. First check would be the thermostat, let the engine warm up and feel the radiator hoses. If 1 hose gets hot and the other is cold, most likely you have a bad thermostat. If thats ok, make sure you dont have any vacuum leaks, as most of the blend air doors that allow heat into the van are vacuum operated. It doesnt take much of a vacuum leak to lose your heat. Finally, make sure the control cables behind the head unit are in place and not kinked or broken.

Seat Alhambra 1996 1.9L water leak drivers footwell

the water can travel along surfaces or beams in the car so you cannot tell where it is actually leaking. in my ford windstar water leaked in right over the fuse box. it ran along a cross beam from the passenger side. if it has those plastic strips they use to go in between small gaps in the metal... like along the roof where the roof is and the metal of the sides joins it is likely they are leaking. best to take a garden hose and have someone inside the car with a flashlight on the floor looking for leaks

Water on floor board

The drain tubes are a definate possibility, but, usually you will see a water mark on the headliner. The panels are fairly easy to remove, if it has assist handles you will need to remove the rubber or plastic plugs that cover the screws, then remove the screw and gently pull out and upward on the panel, it has metal clips that snap into the sheet metal but it also will have a plastic hook to locate the bottom of the panel, you don't want to break this. This will allow you to check the drain tubes. Also don't rule out the windsheild itself. Especailly if it has ever been replaced. Sometimes there is an air bubble in the sealer/adhesive tube they use to secure the windsheild, if not caught and filled in it will cause a water and or air leak (this happens from the factory too).

1994 GMC Safari Oil leaked out for no reason. Put more oil in...look under van and oil is leaking like a water fall. Turn Van off oil leak calms to a trickle. Other than the oil water fall the van runs...

Check the oil filter adaptor bracket. My 1993 Safari had the same problem, and the adaptor bracket and seal were bad. Replacement fixed the leak.
