Car dies after driving about a half mile, usually starts back up just fine and drives for a ways. later on in the day, on the way home, it drives for a half mile then dies and doesn't want to start until i let it sit for awhile. already changed icm, fuel filter and pump, idle control sensor, egr valve. could it possibly be the fuel pressure regulator?

Cheapest scenario is to change the transmission filter. That is if it is an automatic. When you do this, most transmissions have a magnet in the transmission pan. If yours has one I would check it for excessive metal shavings or worse metal chunks.
sounds like it could have ignition module failing, also possibly coil starting to go.I seen same problem on 92 hatchback, put module and coil on and runs fine.goodluck...
sounds like the head or head gasket is blown. your cylinders may be getting coolant in them which will not only cause the motor to lockup, but also cause bent rods and valves. check your oil dipstick and transmission dipstick to see if it looks like water or coolant is presant, also check the coolant to see if it smells like gas or has any kind of oil in it, if so, your head is likely blown.
Keep it simple and replace the fuel filter first, if thr fiiler has not been replaced within 30,000 miles or 1 year. Then it's a good chance that it's going to be the fuel filter.
