It sounds like the catalytic converter might have come loose causing a loud exhaust leak. Did they repair the problem that caused the converter to plug up like a defective oxygen sensor or coil pack?

I have front end noise in the front left.

I work for a Chevrolet dealership and am appalled that they couldn't or wouldn't help you. The noises in the Cobalt, HHR, Malibu, and any other ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING car that GM builds are too common to not know what is wrong!!!!

This is a bulletin for the noise issues:
#04-03-08-006D: Steering and Front Suspension Noise Concerns
This bulletin is available to any dealership to view. The tool used to find noises is called a chassis ear. It is a required tool for the dealership. Again no excuses for not finding the noise.

The most common issues are the intermediate steering shaft, steering rack, control arm bushings, and steering column. There are other things that can cause noises but these have been most common since 2005. Again there is no excuse for not knowing the car.

My advise is to try a different dealer and give them the bulletin number above, and good luck to you.

2005 chevy cobalt check engine light

make sure the gas cap is on tight. vapor recovery system depends on the closure of the gas cap. if that did not solve your problem, I would suggest to get a new gas cap first, before going to the dealer or any repair shop for a turn-up.

2005 chevy cobalt check engine light on

i went to advance auto and they pulled the check engine light code and they said it was just wet electrical equipment from all the rain we have had and that it would dry out in a couple of drives so they reset the code and told me to come back in if it comes back on.

My 2005 chevy cobalt factory radio is locked

There are only 2 things you can try to fix this yourself: turn off the engine and open the driver side door (to turn the radio off). Wait 5 minutes, start your car.
If that does not solve it, turn off your engine, disconnect the car battery, wait about 5 minutes. Reconnect the battery (negative pole first - black connector) and try your radio again.

If neither one of these two fix your problem, I am afraid only a GM service center or dealership can fix the problem. The Cobalt is notorious for all kinds of electrical issues.

Thanks for using the fixya forums!

Part under gove box leaking water

This happened to me many different times. The dealership kept telling me that it was condensation and that I needed to get a new cabin air filter. I went to another shop that said it was a major issue that needed to be taken care of at the dealership under warranty...

Finally, I complained at the dealership that this was a repeated problem. They looked at what they called a "check sheet" (recalls that they don't notify the customers of) and determined that there was a certain gasket that was never put on at the factory.

They put on the gasket, and I haven't had the problem since.
