'84 Ford Ranger cuts off after about 30 mins of driving.

I have a '84 Ford Ranger with new plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, fuel pump, thermostat, and oil sending unit. If i try to start it when it hasn't been started in a while it will start just fine and will run strong. but after driving it for about 30-45 minutes it will start to choke and cut off and it wont start back up for about 15-20 minutes but i can get it started with a spray of starter fluid but it just cuts right back off and i have kept the engine running by spraying short bursts into the carburetor but when i stop spraying it just cuts right back off.

Sounds like the auto choke isnt turning itself off properly but to be totally honest i would need this to happen when i test drive it to diagnose it correctly .

I have a 1987 ford ranger the engine turns over but it wont start

Spark at plugs? Fuel filter? Pressure on injector delivery line? Pressure relief valve? You may be able to measure fuel pressure at the pressure relief valve location. and return line. If you have spark, I'd say it's a fuel supply problem

Silly suggestion i know from a professional mechanic but try leaving the fuel cap loose in case its not drawing air into the tank and its creating a vacumn in the tank which means that the fuel pump cannot draw fuel up .Try that for a day or so and if it doesnt work then keep this post on your Email and get back to me .The clue is the petrol in the carb intake and if iam right drill a small vent hole in teh filler cap

No fire mech changed mod on dist what next

Re-check the basics . Does the distributor rotor rotate while cranking?Note: Distributer cap must be removed. Does the vehicle have enough available spark to plugs? Do we have enough fuel pressure 30-35psi min.? With a 12volt test lamp
check for power to fuel injector while cranking. one wire should
remain lit and the other one should blink.
NO ROTOR ROTATION = worn distributor gear,or timing belt failure.
NO SPARK= bad module, coil,no voltage to coil,or faulty PCM
RELAY.
