Check first the wire for loose or exposed wires. The blowing of fuse means that there is an excess amount of current passing to the circuit caused by additional loads or a short.

What happens when your fuse pump goes out on a 1999 Plymouth Neon

do you mean fuel pump? well if it stops working then no fuel will get pumped to motor and car will not start but it will still crank over. spray starting fluid into air intake and see if car starts, if it does it will only run for a couple seconds, then your engine is not getting fuel.

1999 plymouth neon fuses

Start by checking for a wire shorting to ground if that checks good you will need to go thru the circuit and check the amp draw at each component, fuel pump,ignition coil,ect. until you find the bad part

1998 dodge neon ignition feed fuse in the car keeps blowing

Are you using the same power feed from the old radio? If so, your new radio may require a higher current fuse. Check the manufacturers information the came with the custom radio and make certain the current (amps) required is the same.
If the new radio has a higher power amplifier for increased audio, it will blow a low rated fuse.
On the other hand, it sounds as though you may have pinched the power feed wire in the radio bracket, trim cover or have it resting agaist a sharp bracket. So when you put the car in drive, the dash flexes enough to cause the short.
Does it blow the fuse when you shift to reverse?
let me know.
