If the starter does not work and you have ignition switch again and the new boot may have problems in the solenoid that activates the starter switch or pedal switch clucht or if the transmission is automatic. It is important to check if you have good voltage on the ignition switch

My 1995 Ford Ranger wont start with the key but I can push start it

Solinoid or starter motor, clean and grease wires, no luck the solinoid is the cheapest to replace. The starter can be checked by placing it, live wire with screw on the live battery terminal and the body on the neg. good luck.

I have a 1983 Ford Ranger, When I try to start it all the light and radio work, but it wont turn over at all their isn't even a click. I have replaced the the key switch, starter solenoid, starter.

As simple as it sounds, make sure the transmission is in PARK. Also, there might be a fuse that goes to the starter. Might even be a loose ground/hot wire from the primary electrical system.

Fix my ford ranger

Have the battery load tested. Sounds like while the battery has the 12 volts to run the lights it does not have the Amps to turn the starter. The clicking is from the starter solinoid.

When starting my 1987 ford ranger there is a grinding noise and it wont start. then it does start on my second try without any grinding noise at all.

It's your starter making the grinding noise, may be going out,to test, you must remove,Autozone will test for free.

Ford ranger wont start battery good starter good could it be the clutch safety ...

of course it may be the clutch switch, but may also be anything related to the safty switch (switch, conector @ switch, wires going to the switch) but there is also a fuse for the ignition circiut, check for power on both sides of the fuse with a multi meter or a 12v light prob somtimes fuses look good but have a micro crack in the foil. One more place to look first because its probably easiest to access is check for power on the small leads @ the start solinoid with the key in the start position, just posible the solinoid is stuck or burnt coil.

1988 Ford Ranger truck, new battery and new alternator but car won't start, it just clicks?

the clicks are a signature of a bad battery, since your is new, it probally is not bad, i would try to jump the car with cables, even though your battery is new, you dont know how long is sat ont he shelf before you took it home, may be weak, 1 good jump to get the motor going and the alternator will charge it right up so wont have to so it again....

the only other thing is the starting system left to look at if that dont work is the starter, try banging on it a little with a hammer, not to hard though, as someone turns the key, this will sometime free up a locked up solinoid.

Good Luck

Truck wont start after a new starter was installed . new starter solinoid and cables also, now all i get is a clicking in the voltage rugulater

Either voltage regulator is fualty, or starter relay is faulty, or you don't have metal to metal contact on the connections from battery
