Check the fluid level and you will have to pull the pan on the transmisson and replace the oil and filter if you remove the pan and see metal in the pan or chunks of a fibrous material it iwill need to be overhauled.

Accerleration sluggish

Try cleaning the fuel injection system with seafoam and replacing the fuel filter. Look up seafoam on youtube. BTW really really really really bad idea running a vehicle on jack in gear.

94 Accord Ex 2.2l Vtec will not engage passing gear

Sounds like it could be a problem something to do with the clutch perhaps? If the clutch or other components of the tranny are malfunctioning then it could very well be the source of quite a few elusive problems, and unfortunately the transmission on Honda's are known for hard-shifting, so i would have the transmission diagnosed just to see if everything checks out A-OK. Let me know how it goes!

Harsh grinding noise while in gear and car won't drive!

Had the exact same thing in my 93 and it was the CV Axles - they have a C clip that hold them in place - sometimes the C clip and fail; sometimes you simply have to replace the CV Axles - much cheaper then a tranny; a good suspension shop should be able to diagnos w/o it costing you an arm and a leg.
