REMOVAL

Caution!
Never remove the radiator cap when the engine is hot. Remove the radiator cap from a hot engine could result in a serious burn. Wrap a thick cloth around the radiator cap when removing it. 1. Remove the under cover. 2. Remove the radiator cap, loosen the drain ****, and drain coolant into a suitable container. how do you replace a radiator in a 1998 kia - 930ee40.jpg 3. Disconnect coolant reservoir tank hose. 5.Remove the fresh air duct. 8021b4a.jpg When installing fresh air duct, tighten bolts to 89lb·in(10N·m) Note: Do not damage the radiator fins. Damage to the fins will affect the unit's ability to radiate heat. 6. Remove the five shroud bolts. ae34b85.jpg 7. Remove the radiator bracket bolts and radiator upward. NO NEED TO REPLACE CAMS OF SHAFTS, AS LONG AS VEHICLE WAS WELL MAINTAINED, MIGHT HAVE TO REPLACE BELT TENSIONER.

Align marks on timing belt pulley and pump body.

Camshaft pulley alignment marks

  1. Align marks on camshaft pulleys with alignment marks on seal plate.
  2. Install timing belt. NOTE: No looseness should exist on the tension side and at the camshaft pulleys.
  3. Loosen tensioner lock bolt.
  4. Turn crankshaft 2 revolutions in direction of rotation and check that timing marks are still in alignment.
  5. Tighten timing belt tension lock bolt to 27-38 ft lb (32-52 Nm).
  6. Apply a force of 22 lbs to timing belt between camshaft sprockets.
  7. Belt deflection should measure 0.30-0.33 in (7.5-8.5 mm)
  8. NOTE: Replace tensioner spring if timing belt deflection is excessive.

  1. Install lower timing belt cover.
  2. Install upper timing belt cover.
  3. Install power steering drive belt and adjust belt tension.
  4. Install fan pulley.
  5. Install generator drive belt and adjust belt tension.
  6. Install A/C drive belt and adjust belt tension.
  7. Install splash guard.
  8. Install fan and fan shroud.
  9. Install 4 fan bolts. Tighten to 24 ft lb (33 Nm).
  10. Install fan shroud mounting bolts.
  11. Install fresh air duct.
  12. Connect hose to resonance chamber.
  13. Connect battery negative cable.

YOU NEED THE BELT TENSIONER TOOL ITS FITS IN THE SQUARE SLOTS IN THE TENSIONER.YOU ROTATE TENSIONER CLOCKWISE TO REMOVE BELT.

It can on both fan or radiator. Radiator has be cleaned regularly. Check also your fan for late response, low rpm etc.

The radiator thermostat may be stuck. I've had that before. Just about any auto part store should have an employee that can help if you need it. Its a quick and easy fix/replacement. You'll definitely want to check your radiator coolant level as well.
