Have you read the error codes to see what the ECM indicates? Could be an oxygen sensor or, many other things... Charlie

Yes, a leaky exhaust can cause this condition. If the hole in the exhaust is near the oxygen sensor, the exhaust could be pulling in air (with oxygen) which tells the O2 sensor that the fuel mixture is too lean and will increase fuel to the engine. This can cause rough engine (too rich) and will decrease gas mileage.

Sounds like you could possibly have a bad injector dumping fuel would cause it to do this there are a couple of different things that could cause this best thing to do is put it on diagnostic machine because i could list things for days and it will cost you a lot of money to guess fix this problem. should not cost very much to have diagnostic done and most shops if they do the work will not charge for the diagnostic

My 87 ford ranger is wasting a lot of gas

2002 Mercedes C320 very poor fuel economy ~8 mpg, no engine codes or faults present

I'm not sure what the problem is specifically, but I can assure you this--you're basically throwing money way (and possibly exacerbating the issue) by using 93 octane fuel. Your car is timed and tuned to run most economically and with best performance with 87 octane fuel. The higher the octane, the slower the fuel burns. Longer burn time can equate to more power, but ONLY if your engine is designed and tuned for this application.
Couple of suggestions..checkto make sure your exhaust is "free". A plugged catalytic converter can really rob mileage. Tire pressure and air filter are worth mentioning as well.

1999 Grand Prix GTP Supercharged 3.8L gas engine. Poor fuel economy.

did you check the lower intake manifold gaskets? they go bad on the 3800 series 2, since you have the supercharger you won't have an issue with the upper intake because it is not plastic but the gaskets may be bad as well. that engine runs best with irridium plugs.

I am getting poor fuel economy. The truck has 88,800 miles. Fuel filter, and air filter were changed in 2011. The tailpipe is black and I run fuel injecter cleaner every 3000 miles.

Poor fuel economy can come from bad fuel or tune up.Try switching to a gas with a higher octane and give your truck a full tune up.This should help your fuel economy out a little.

Does the 09 es350 need 93 octane gas or will it run on 87 octane

you should have a factory affixed sticker inside gas compartment cover listing premium fuel only or also listed in your owners manual. Otherwise if you notice that you're vehicle is making a pinging sound while accelerating or climbing a hill for instance then you may want to step up to 89 or 93 octane and try to avoid purchasing fuel with ethanol added it's **** and degrades your fuel quality/octane ratio

Knocking/tapping when accelerating on 2003 nissan x-trail td

Usually an indication of Bad fuel, needs a tune up or Slipped Timing. Most likely bad fuel or tune up depending on when the last time you replaced the plugs and wires was. If you have been using the 87 Octane low grade fuel that would cause this or if you happened to get some bad fuel at a station. The vehicle will run on 87 octane but was designed to have a minimum of 89 octane fuel, the mid grade. If you haven't replaced your spark plugs in the last 25,000 miles replace the spark plugs and wires. If you suspect the fuel is the issue you can get injector cleaner or Octane boost and add to a FULL tank of gas to clean it out.

Why does my 87 run better on regular gas than super unleaded

the car was built to run on 87 octane, unless you have done engine work( raised compression ) or reprogrammed the pcm run regular, you will probably get better fuel economy also

I have a 2007 GMC 1500 5.3 V8. Once I got 45,000

ever tuned it up? sounds like its due. plugs, wires, fuel filter (if equipped), PCV, and an intake system cleaning should restore your fuel economy to where you want it.
