If there is no power to the fuel pump check the relay ( fuel pump relay ) under the hood next to the AC relay they are interchangable.

The car that broke down is a 2000 jeep grand Cherokee and what happened last night is that we were on our way across the state to my other aunts house for the night and then to my grandpa's in the morning...

What is wrong is one of the computers that tell the engine what to do is bad. I would say that it is the ECM, or the BCM. With the gauges going hay wire I would say the BCM or body control module. But if the ECM or Engine Control Module is sending the wrong signal to the BCM it could be the ECM. It is going to be one of the two.

Car slipped out of DRIVE position only revving the RPM's.

Tranny low on fluid. When you stop or turn it all goes to one side causing the problems.

When i accelerate car hesitates

just wondering,, when you accelerated you say the needle went up ,,but did the car kinda splutter, or not pull away at all when you accelerated,,,if the needle goes up but the car doesnt seen to pull away then that sounds like a clutch slipping,,.. but if it just hesitates it could be lots of things ,,maybe a dodgy airflow meter..that can also make the car hesitate,,hope that helps you,,,,,

2004 dodge durango engine shuts off while driving

I had this happen to me before. My battery had went out and I had put another in (didn't buy a new one-- it was holiday). It did this exact thing to me. The scary part is once, it was on the interstate going about 75 mph... didn't die but all gauges went to nothing. It turned out that the battery I was using didn't have enough cold cranking amps and was pulling down the alternator too much so the computer shut it down. The one time it didn't... it was because the RPH's were too high. Try checking the battery and alternator... make sure you have the right battery and have an alternator shop test your alternator if the battery is good.
