My power steering belt broke, is it hard for myself to replace it, or should I just take to the mechanic. 93 Honda Accord

    The honda has 225,000 miles on it. Can't remember the last time had belt changed. Heard a pop and the steering became very hard to turn.

To be honest with you. There is lots of things you can do yourself on this car. But first you need to buy a book on yout car. They have them at O' Rilleys Auto Parts Stores. it tells you how tight to put the belt. And step by step how to do lots of jobs. or you can go to Alldata.com its great

it sounds like the belt needs to be adjusted or the belt needs replace you can adjust the belt at the power steering pump good luck.

bubbamsr.gifHere is a diagram for your belts the power steering belt is the one that broke the tensioner will need to be loosened to install a new belt. depending on your mechanical ability you should be able to handle this job. hope this helps

In some honda s the PISTON and the VALVE share the same space ,check if your honda does or not ,because you wil have to re build that motor if that happens,timing belts are at every 90,000 miles

Is it my belt?

That could be a belt.. it is typical for that to happen when the belt is warn out a bit and/or sretched.. Inspect the belt(s) for ware, cracks and tention.. If the belt(s) is warn - it would not hurt to replece it/them..

93 Accord SE squealing sound when steering wheel is turned

your power steering belt needs to be tightened or replaced. It' slipping, causing the annoying squealing. The more it slips, it 'glazes' the belt, making it easier to slip, resulting in the condition getting worse.
