Many models list this code on the production list of options on the cover plate to the spare tire/wheel...As a last resort, you can contact Ford, as the new owner and request the code directly from Ford...Most Ford Dealers are helpful to retrieve this also...you can check your system by pressing #8 then #9 on your door keypad, and this automatically locks all your doors. This is possible with almost any vehicle, especially ones with power locks. I installed keyless entry on someone car before on my own. Took about 3 hours or just take it to a local shop. Its a pretty easy install for anyone who is mechanically inclined.

How to find the Security Keyless Keypad Code on the 1995-2001 Ford Explorer or Mountaineer and how to use the Keypad functions. The factory code is also printed on a label which is installed on the Remote Anti-theft Personality (RAP) Module. This is the module that controls the keyless entry system. It is located in the left rear quarter behind the removable panel (see photo). You will need to turn the two thumb screws counter clockwise and take the plastic panel off to be able to see the unit. A flashlight may be helpful in seeing the code. You are looking for the module and the 5 digit code on it like the one shown below.

on my 2005 eddie bauer it was behind the back seat on the side panel between two windows. you have to take off the inside molding and there's a number printed 5 digit i think...i think it was right side.

Yes, Fords have PATS system, which is what controlls your keyless entry. It is the computer for your key fobs and keyless entry. You might have tripped itby accident, and your only solution is to take it to a dealership or someone who has Fords reprogrammimg computer to have it reflashed.

For the 2008 Ford Explorer ONLY (SUV). Look under the steering wheel. There is a black fuse box near emergency brake pedal. You will need a flashlight and a dental mirror (very tight space. Look between the lower lid of the box on the slim space to the left side. Take your time, you will see a bar code and 5 above it...That's it! I found mine that way. If you are laying on your back looking up, it's the gap above your right shoulder.GOOD LUCK!

On your 99 model the module is located behind the left quarter trim panel,mid-way.You maybe able to see it by removing the speaker cover or the cupholder on top. The module will have a sticker with a 5 digit code.
On the 04 the model is behind the right quarter trim panel toward the front about even with the right rear door stricker.

Right hand side rear cargo area under the trim panel under the side glass, many of the electronics are under that panel.
