Have a 96 Blazer Lt V6 it will not start unless I prime it first then it seems to run great, but sometimes I need to reprimer it again after I drive it for a few miles and park it and when I put gas in seems to boil the engine is hot but the temp gauge only reads 130/140 I have the thermostat out of it

Everythings seem to look good. I did however notice that on my fuel pump that one of plastic tips was broken off and they just drillid a hole into the take and stuck the hose in there. What are all three lines for I know one is the fuel line one is the return what is the third one for.

Ok, there are different problems involved here. The fuel issue: You either have a leak on the vacum or you fuel pump is faulty. I assume it is electronic. Trace the Fuel lines back to the Fuel pump, I believe on that year model it is located next to the fuel tank in the rear, and make sure they are not cracked or leaking. replace any faulty lines. The temp problem: There could be a couple of issuescausing you problems here. First and formost you really need to put the thermastat back in. You can get away with no thermastat if you are in Texas or along teh gulf coast for a short period but not forever. That is a temporary fix at best. Are you losing water or do you see water condensation from the exhaust? If you answer yest to either of these do a compression test of your engine. If any cylinder has an abnormally high reading, 30 to 40 psi more than other cylinders, then you have a serious engine problem and water is getting into you cylinders. You need to replace the headgasket at least and may have craked you Head or block. I wouldn't wait too long on this issue.

I was told that if you have to prime the fuel first in order to start the vehicle it is most likely a weak pump... i had a 96 blazer with the same problem.... sooner or later it went out completely while going down the road

Your temp gauge is wrong, check your fuel filter, may be clogged up, then I would say there is a system leakdown in the fuel system. You may have a pump going bad in the fuel tank.

Have a chev blazer 4.3 THROTTLE BODY V6 ,HAVE 2 SPRAY STARTING FLUID IN BREATHER & starts & runs all day,no problems . Shut off & in 5 min wont start again, unless u spray it 4 2 seconds again? Whats...

Maybe a problem in the fuel pump circuit. Check fuel pressure with engine off, and key turned to on, not start. If no pressure, diagnose the pump circuit at the fuel pump relay. One terminal for the relay would be the power feed for the pump. The engine computer signals the relay on for 2 seconds with key on to prime the system, also signals during engine cranking.

96 chevy blazer won't start.

I'm following another issue like this on a 1996 Jimmy.
This engine requires 60psi or more fuel pressure to run.
You need to have someone check the fuel pressure at the rail- throttle body with a gauge.

Your carb has a very small pinhole that lets the fuel in the float section drain out. You may have to replace the carb. Good luck with that.

Have a '94 S-10 Blazer Tahoe 4X4 and it starts

My suspicion is a starter going bad. Sometimes when starters get old and worn they will start good when the engine is cold but not when the engine is warmed up. Did you perhaps notice that lately is seemed to drag when you tried starting, especially warm or it seemed to crank a little slower? I'd replace the starter. Hope this helps.

My 1997 blazer won't start unless primed in the throttle body it runs fine after when shut off for a day it needs primed again

This sounds like a fuel pump is starting to fail. The system is designed to keep, or at least prime rather quickly to allow for efficient starting. If the pump is begining to fail or, has a plugged fuel filter (which will kill a fuel pump), it may create this issue. One other item to check is the coolant temperature sensor. If it is reading warm when it is cold, this symptom will occur.

I have a 2003 -2500hd chevy dura max.diesel--fuel prime lost?

need to know what codes where recorded when failure happened..have seen this before..most of the time it is a bad pressure relief valve on the fuel rail...have also seen bad injectors cause it to loose fuel pressure and die...as for your cluster problem it is common for this failure

I have a 96 S-10 Blazer, Does not want to start

Replace the fuel filter to help the fuel pump, but it sounds like the fuel pump check valve has gone bad and your losing your fuel pressure to start the engine. Your going to have to keep priming the fuel system by turning the ignition key to the run position for 5 seconds 3 times before you try to start the engine. The only fix for this is to replace the fuel pump, and that is costly. Good luck and take note: the fuel pump has a life time of around 150,000 miles and anything past that is borrowed time.

Engine wont start without priming with gas first, then runs well

i have the same problem on a 98 jimmy 4.3 4x4.
i replaced the fule pump and have good pressure.
new wiers & coil (good spark) no MIL & no codes.
will only start when primed. it will run & drive all day
with no problems.
but once it has been turned off (warm or cold) i will
have to prime it once again to start it.
i have another engine that was in it before it spun a bearing.
it ran fine so i know all parts are good.
i swaped the mass air flow and throttle body but i still have
to prime it everytime to start it. am i forgetting something?
should i swap out the intake with the injectors?
any help would be sweet. thanks.

Wont start

The fuel pump will run for a short time when you turn the ignition key on to prime the line then waits until the engine is running. Check the fuel filter and replace if plugged then check the fuel pressure should be abouve 27 psi
