For the past day, intermittently when I hit the brakes, it sounds like Im driving over a rumble strip found on the highways. It happens in the front, as far as I can tell, and its fairly loud. Ive looked around the wheels and see nothing rubbing. I have no clue what can be causing this, its in 2wd, and still goes into 4wd with out issue. 84k miles.

Sounds like a warped rotor. Do you do a lot of highspeed braking? Meaning, are you still traveling fast to the last second before braking?

If so, this is a tall tale that you have a warped rotor.

Are the tires showing steel ...could possibly be the bolts have loosened up on the brakes or the pads need replacing , could even be a wheel bearing you should have it look at or inspect it yourself for the obvious wear n tear things and i would jack it up and use jack stands for safety and see if the tires wiggle back n forth or up n down if so then its possibly a bearing or wheel joint

Left rear wheel very hot after stop &;n go. Right not.why is this happening what is solution

It may be a sticking brake caliper, worn brake pads or shoes. Probably needs a brake job. Take it for a ride on the highway and try not to use your brakea as much. If its still hot then its ba wheel bearings that is causing the heat. The bad wheel bearings will produce a low rumble sound when driving.

2004 ford freestar rumbling noise as I drive down the road at about 45-60mph - it sounds and feels a bit like I hit a rumble strip but it is coming from the engine

Sounds like a half shaft. Reach around behind each wheel and see if there is play in the shaft that leads from the wheel to the transmission. There should be no play. Other possibility is a bearing hub. Jack up car, grab the tire at 9 and 3 o'clock. Shake wheel if there is movement not from the tie rod then it is the bearing hub.

2006 ford explorer shudder at 40 miles per hour intermittent

If you feel it in the brake pedal and/or steering wheel you have a bad brake pulsation in the front brakes. Just replace the rotors as having them turned or machined will make them warp sooner due to the loss of material from machining. More cost effective to just replace them. If this vehicle has a 4 speed automatic......shift down into D to hook-up to the engine thru the transmission to help slow the vehicle down long hills like mountain driving. GET IT OUT OF OVERDRIVE TO SAVE THE BRAKES.
Hope this solves your problem.

My 04 trailblazer intermittently sounds like it is running over a rumble strip, then it stops after applying brakes a few times

What would a "rumble strip" sound like? Squeaking, metal clanking against metal? Trailblazers have lots of noises that are a nuisance, and I've fixed most of them.

Intermittent rumbling sound in transmission at ~30 mph when going uphill and easing up a little on the gas. very much like driving over a rumble strip on the highway like they put in front of toll booths....

Do you have the problem when you turn on the car as well? I had this same problem, turns out the alternator was going bad. A few months later the alternator went. After the alternator was replaced, the problem went away.

Clunk noise from front passenger side when

That noise sounds to me like a Ball Joint problem. I would check to see if you have fittings to grease the front suspention.

Good luck, Allen
