There is a few things to check: First check to see that the wiring connection has not fallen off, check to see that the rod has not fallen off. If needed check power to wiring with voltmeter and check relay with ohmmeter.

You will need to remove all the screws to the door panel, remove lock and window controls, and then pry panel with big flat-head screwdriver directly next to the plastic studs and pry panel off. Don't forget about screw and plate next to mirror. Then you will have access to the inside off door and the components

This worked for me on 2008 Mk5 Golf, after the rear passenger door would not open fro outside or inside.

Hold the inside door latch open and keep it extended, then with the key fob open and close the door locks (still holding the inside latch open). Keep locking and unlocking the door, then it made a kluck and it released.

The door lock solenoid for the passenger side is possibly defective, and that is what caused the fuse to blow in the first place. If you apply voltage to the solenoid and it works, then the driver transistor or wiring would be the next place to check. Hope this helps.
