My 83 s-10 pickup 6 cyclinder misses going down the road, like its running low on fuel. Replaced spark plugs 2 weeks ago. The first plug on the left side has oil all over it. What is causing that or what could it be? thanks

OK I agree that it could possibly be this. I have one more thing to add to the above post. If it is the wire, will that cause it too not have as much power as it did before going up hills?
I am going to get wires tomorrow for it, but am just wondering if it is that, would it do this. thanks, just don't want to spend money on it if its a cylinder or something like that..

If the oil is on the outside of the plug it's likely to be a leaky valve cover gasket. Oily on the tip means its not firing. Take the plug wire for the oily plug off and reinstall it on both ends, it's likely not making proper connection on one end. Also check that wire closely for swelling, cracks, burnt marks, etc. If any of that is present that could stop it from firing and a new set of wires will probably fix you up. Hope this helps.

Testimonial: "It was the wires and the distributor cap that was causing the missing. I sorta thought that but its always good too to double check myself!! thanks"

First replace the fuel filter. If you still got the same problem check the pump and fuelpressure. The oily sparkplug can be a leaking valve or poor pistong rings on that cylinder.

You said you just had the spark plugs replaced, could be that a spark plug wire was connected in the wrong spot, I would check that first, also does the car run smoothly going down the road? clogged fuel filter perhaps. Check engine light on? could alse be a sensor. This newer vehicles basically use a computer to control every aspect of the engine as far as keeping it running at top performance and the least amount of emmissions as possible.
