When I put the original key in the ignition, car turns over, but just won't catch and stay started. Acts exactly the same way as then the fuel pump has gone. Mechanic said the security light was on (but it was not for me at anytime in the past couple days - nor when it wouldn't start). He advised there were two security lock codes appearing when he ran the diagnostic. He cleared them and the car started. The security light has been on a few times (under 10 for sure) with no rhyme or reason over the past couple years since I first got the car. This is the first time the car has failed to start due to security reasons. The mechanic could not explain why it was an issue now and not any of the other times. And could only say that maybe the car was attempted to be broken into - that if the problem persisted, he would look further into it. My question: is there anyway for me to clear the security lock code on my own - without the expense of getting it towed to a garage? This could become very costly and expensive! Is there anyway to disable it altogether? Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
Two possablites, one for some reason the someone entered through the passengerside started the car before opening the driverside door, this will throw the code, the other is raising the front or rear of car off the ground past 7 or 8 digrees as if beeing towed by a tow truck . without key in ignition
Testimonial: "This solution explained it much better than the garage attempted to. Now I know how to possibly prevent this from happening again."
You are discribing an issue with the PASSLOCK II factory security system, would like to know what the components were that the codes represented, most likely the key code receiver is acting up and causing the problem
Testimonial: "It was somewhat helpful. The garage did not provide me with the actual codes that were cleared, so I cannot get a possible solution."
