1994 Honda Civic LX overheating with no circulation - no heat & botttom rad hose stays cold - relaced thermostat & bled system - no help
purchased car about 1 year ago with 102,000 miles and leaking radiator
think previous owner used a ton of stop leak prior to sale.
replaced radiator and had system flushed about 10 months ago.
do not know if timing belt and water pump had been replaced
Remove and raise upper hose at thermostat end and remove lower rad hose.
Fill rad with a hose and watch for flow from bottom rad hose and/ or bottom rad hose connecton.......water should fall though rad easily.
Honda rads are cheap.....any restriction....replace rad.
Remove thermostat....fill thermostat housing with hose and watch for water flow at bottom rad hose.
Flush good.
Remove heater hoses.......flush back and forth until a good flow is present "With heater control set to hot" if no or poor flow....replace heater core.
Stop leak can plug everything.
Also.......not likely causing over heating....but ....at your mileage,if you do not know if the timing belt has been changed.....CHANGE IT NOW!
Water pump is optional at this mileage.

one kinda strange point on this car. The thermostat is on the outlet, back side of engine to lower rad. The bleed screw is on the inlet side, just after the upper hose goes in. Is this the normal setup on the 94 LX? Drove car today with bleed screw jsut cracked open, Car did not overheat, closed bleed screw, car runs hot, fan does not come on, but does not go above 1/2 temp on gauge. Bottom rad hose hot now - so think i am getting circulation again. Fan will run with 12 volts to it, switched rear defroster relay with fan relay - no help
New thermostat, radiator, lower hose, fan switch, relay, timing belt replaced not to long ago. dont think water pump is the problem doesnt squeek or anything but car still runs hot when traveling mountain terrainon on long trips. and never runs hot during regular use. have to fill radiator & overflow often
