ABS light intermittenly comes on and off??

ABS light has a tendency to come on every other start and while I'm driving. I was told that it was a sensor in the brake assembly that wasn't adjusted or installed correctly when the brakes were changed, is that a good explenation?

Yes, that's a good start. Hopefully, that's all it is.

ABS, TRAC OFF, SERVICE VEHICLE SOON LIGHTS ARE ON. BRAKE PEDAL PULSATES INTERMITTENLY AND MAKES NOISE.

with these lights on then you will have to see what codes are in the abs and pcm module to find out what the problems are.the abs module will activate when the traction control lights come on.this can also cause a noise and pulsate in the brakes pedal.

Hello,
There is a ground wire connected to the engine block. Look for it on the back passenger side of the engine towards the top. Remove it and clean the connection and the wire connector and replace. Sometimes they get real bad and throw the ABS light on. Sometimes a brake light out can throw the ABS light on.

  • You said you rebuilt the ABS module, do you have a short in it you are missing? The bulletin for this originally suggested to replace the module and was corrected because the ground itself was the major offender.
  • Try to reground the EBCM. The code 0265 says "loss of communication with the brake module" The EBCM Ground is located on the frame beneath the driver's side door. If multiple grounds are found in this location, the EBCM ground can be identified as the heavy (12-gauge) wire. Clean the area, front and back, using a Whiz Wheel.

  • Install the ground, then the washer and then the bolt to the frame. Important: It is important to use the bolts, washers and nuts specified in this bulletin. These parts have been identified due to their conductive finish.
  • Install a washer and nut to the back side of the frame.
  • Tighten the nut to 9 N·m (79 lb in).
  • Cover the front and back side of the repair area using Rubberized Undercoating. An additional check can be made to ensure a good connection for the Battery Cable to Frame ground.

ABS LIGHT COMES ON AND DISENGAGES THE ABS BUT

When the ABS light is on the ABS system is deactivated. Meaning, when the abs is light is on and you brake, the tires will lock up with heavy braking.

Escapes have a common issue of the ABS excitor rings cracking causing ABS problems. Sometimes it activates on almost every brake application. It may set a code in the ABS computer for an intermitten wheel speed sensor or no wheel speed signal. Check all the "rings" on the outside of all four axleshafts. If none of the rings are cracked it is likely a bad ABS wheel speed sensor.

When braking the Rendezvous jerks forward just before stopping completely. This is an intermitten problem, usually when first leaving for the day. Any suggustions? Thanks

I would have a brake tech at a reliable auto center check the abs (anti-lock brake system)
Do you have any lights on in your dash with the letters abs ?
I would have this checked out now. It is not safe to drive your vehicle if there are brake problems, no matter how " intermitten"
Please let me know what you find.
