If I start my 1999 GMC Jimmy without the key will I be able to drive it without the steering wheel locking up on me

if you can turn the ignition to the run position it should not lock up on you. if you are starting it without turning the ignition it will probably lock the steering wheel.

1999 gmc jimmy. Solenoid good. I found when I remove the 40A "ign A" fuse under hood & plug it back in, I turn the key and it fires right up and stays running. But if shut off, won't start again.

1999 GMC Jimmy will not crank when moisture in the air or raining. Cranks after several days of dry air.

What brand of distributor cap did you use? When you say it won't crank, do you mean it won't even turn over? Or just turn over and not start up?

My 1999 GMC Jimmy will not start. It has gas and the battery gage is at 14. All the interior lights and the radio turn on but there isnt even the clicking sound of the starter trying to turn over

These vehicles are notorious for failing antitheft systems. When this goes out, it will actually turn off the starter. Here is a link you might want to look into.

Have a 1999 GMC Jimmy 4.3 liter and we are having problems with it starting. Some days it will start and others it won't start. We have replaced the battery and that day it seemed like it worked but then...

Check the fuel pressure. It has to have 60 psi or it won't start. These are common for having weak fuel pumps causing this problem.

u may want 2 check with a dealer gmc dealer but u may have 2 fuel filters on your jimmy poss. an in-line filter runs down the pass. side or driver side not all cars are the same

Check the Distributor Cap and Rotor Button (If it Has One) they might be worn. I have to replace mine on my 99 Jimmy 4X4 once a year (give or take)

What size engine? You need spark while cranking and fuel pressure thats the basics we can work from there.
