I have a 2001 Chevy 4X4 Z71 package. The check 4 wheel drive light comes on some times. it seems to come on more often when the weather is warmer. Most of the time the 4 wheel still works but sometimes it does not. A few times the 2 wheel or 4 wheel light will not be lite up or sometimes it is not very bright.
I have taken it in for repair at transmission shops but they all say thay can not read the trouble code without the service light lite up and of course it never does when they have it.
Can you help?
Do you have the push button selector switches or the handle on the floor?
I have seen hundreds of these problems since GM came out with this electronic shift transfer case.There isn't any one thing some have been chaffed wiring at top of bell housing,some have been the push button switches,some have been the transfer case control module,but most of the time it is the actuator and control board assembly on the transfer case.I would ventrue to guess at least 90% of the time.Good Luck

Automatic does not change from two wheel drive into 4. The 4x4 Dash light indicator stop coming on. What should I check?
