I dont know for sure what the noise is that my 04 ford f-150 is making. After it sets for a while and you crank it... it rattles like a dry start. I have had te cam phasers and lifters replaced aprox. 10K miles ago. What could this noise be?

Have an oil pressure test done. If you have low pressure, it will take it a while to build up the pressure.

You might want to switch to full synthetic oil. I use it it my primary cars from the moment I buy them. Full Synthetic oil will seat better and protect better when it cools down. It is worth the cost of syn oil to try.

Hope this helps.

Unused 12 pin wire connector behind light switch 04 silverado

If everything works I suggest you don't worry - just make sure it can't rattle around making a noise.

Wiring harnesses are expensive to make and manufacturers find it more economic to make just one harness for a range of cars so it is inevitable some cars with a lower spec will have a number of spare wires, connectors etc.

04 nissan altima rattling noise

that would be the engine front , you sure it's a Rattle ? if so ? it will be your Camshaft bearing noise, is it a 2.5 L 4 cylinders ?or 3.5 L V 6 !! .
if it's 2.5 L , your Camshaft bearings are starving for oil , so I suggest you check them both intake and exhaust cams and see also if the valve lifters or cam bearings are in bad shape , worn out ? check also both cams journals and drive journals to lifters ( contact operation ) if there is a suspicious gaps between them that also can cause a rattle sound .

I need to know the torque settings for the alternator bolts on a 2000 ford f-150.

dont know the actual settings but if you tighten the bolts until they are snug and then give them a have a turn you will be ok all you want to do is make sure that they dont run themselves out when the engine is running.

04 murano right side engine rattle

Hello windy....There are a few thing on the murano that could cause this... one is the exhaust gussets that go to the bottom of the oil pan to the exhaust, they can crack and cause a rattling noise. Also I have seen the rear exhaust heat shield spot welds come loose and cause a rattling noise, from exhaust manifold down pipe on the cat. converter. I would check them first, also the park brake cable will lose tension and rattle on the undercarriage.
A more serious problem would be the timing chain and/or chain tensioners...these are known to make noise around 50-60k. The tensioners are operated from oil pressure, the face gets worn, the chain stretches and it results in a rattle or a slapping noise
Useing a full synthetic oil with regular maintaince will help prevent premature wear.
Good luck, i hope this helps..please rate me a fixya.

Lifters rattle when you first crank it up for about 5 mins until warm, Shouldi replace the lifteror wouldbe wasting my money to do so,.It runs great an use no oil 3800 -v-6 in a 2001 camaro, what...

Are you sure that the noise is a rattle? lifters make a ticking noise, pistons, piston pins and bearing rattle, lifter tick goes away in seconds, piston and bearing related noises take longer, and in the case of rod bearing not at all, it sounds like you may have piston noise, and in that case I would not worry about it, I would run a few cans of combustion chamber cleaner with you next 2 fill ups, carbon build up on the the # 1 piston ring land can cause the piston to "rock" in the cylinder and make a rattle type noise. I have a 1996 Corvette that has a rattle, it is a piston, GM checked it and told me not to worry about it, of course that advice cost $50.00. Also this type of noise is common to the later production 3.8L V6. Hope this sets your fears of a large repair bill to rest, just drive it, but make sure you use the correct oil and change it when recommended.
