HEYYYY. Looks like all these responses are severely lacking: the Prius uses the battery-charging generator to brake/slow the car. Though the braking is controlled with a pedal, exactly as in a traditional vehicle, the friction brakes are used only as a backup or in high-demand situations.
My '03 Prius has 175,000 miles and 80% tread on the original brakes.
If you drive it like a Prius, you wont need new brakes. Probably ever.
If you drive it like an insane person, you may need to change them as many as two times in 300,000 miles.
If you're thinking about it, just buy a Prius. I've never even heard of a more reliable car. Here's some info on the maintenance that was helpful to me and has proved almost completely accurate: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?...
Let me know if you need anything else!!
when shoul i have the transmissio oil changed
Depends on your year. It's a little different than a normal car, so you'll need to take it to a place that works on Hybrids. If you have an 01-03, I'd say every 30,000 - 60,000 miles. The newer ones, 50,000 - 100,000 miles, maybe?

That is TOTALLY false. The rear brakes will wear out just as the fronts on the prius. Have them checked every 20 to 30,000 miles.
Over 70% of the braking is done through the front brakes, however all vehicles will have to have their brakes serviced at some point. I would suggest whenever your following your vehicle/manufacturers scheduled maintenance mainly your tire rotation to have your brakes inspected most shops will check your brake components for free as a customer courtesy for the simple fact they want to sell you an additional service. Hope this clarifies things if you have anything further ask and I'd be happy to help you
False.
If it is a four wheel drive yes but also no if she doesn't go out much to work.
