Do you feel this is a manufacturers fault, or possibly a teenager who is hard on cars?

Manufacturers fault:
Buy the competition style clutch for this car. There's no slipping of the clutch then!

Teenager may be to blame:
Have teenager pay for the clutch replacement this time, and learn to respect the car.

Just the 2cents of a parent.

Tell them that the clutch pedal is not a foot rest. Keep your foot off of the pedal until and only until shifting gears. Even just letting your foot rest against the pedal ever so lightly will put pressure on the clutch, causing premature wear and failure. That's an expensive repair, I hope the kid has a job. If the kid has to pay for it I'll bet it won't happen again. P.S. it only takes a few "rev it up and dump the clutch" to tear one apart also. Good luck.

Common problem with people that do not let out the clutch at lights and put it in neutral. they sit at the light with the clutch pushed in. it wears out the clutch springs and burns the clutch.

I have a 2006 Mitsubishi eclipse GS 5 speed manual transmission. Clutch had just been replaced few months prior to current issue. Was out for a ride one night when all of a sudden my car didn't want to...

It is possible that the problem you are experiencing with your Mitsubishi Eclipse could be due to an issue with the transmission or the clutch. Without more information or the opportunity to diagnose the problem, it is difficult to say for sure what the cause might be. Some possible reasons for the symptoms you describe could include:
  • A problem with the clutch hydraulic system, such as a leak or a failed component
  • A problem with the shift linkage or shift cables
  • A problem with the transmission itself, such as a damaged gear or a failed component
To accurately diagnose the problem, it is best to have a mechanic inspect the car and perform any necessary tests. They may need to check the condition of the clutch, the transmission, and any related components to determine the cause of the issue and recommend the appropriate repairs. Keep in mind that even if the clutch was recently replaced, it is still possible for it to fail again if it was not installed properly or if it was not the correct type for your car.

My 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse gs won't crank. Just sputtered and now won't even crank. The battery is good, already had it checked.

If the battery is definitely good, I'd suspect worn contacts at the bottom of the starter solenoid, which won't pass current to the starter, or a dead segment in the starter motor.

If it is a manual you can try a clutch start, and if the starter then operates it is probably a dead segment, which comes to rest under the brushes now and again.

If an auto you will have to get the starter motor checked out. Some people recommend hammering on the housing but I think that is just relief from frustration.

The clutch sensor switch on my manual 95 Mitsubishi Eclipse won't let the car start. What can I do?

The sensor is a simple push button on the top of the clutch pedal frame. I don't recall if it's normally open or closed. I think it closes (ie grounds) when the pedal is depressed. In any case you can usually disconnect the wire and see if the starter will turn the engine.

I have a mitsubishi eclipse 2001 rs, i seem to be having a problem with my clutch. or so i think it is my clutch i have had the clutch fluid blead. though i have no problem putting it in gear but when i...

Sounds like the clutch assy is about worn out. Most hydraulic clutches are self adjusting so when the clutch disc lining wears thin it takes more pedal travel to engage.

How or where is the clutch adjustment on the 2002 mitsubishi eclipse

Look under your hood for a Clutch master cylinder. It will look like a brake resevoir, but smaller, and also has brake fluid in it. This is what adjusts your clutch as it wears. If you have one, there is no adjustment. You can bleed these like brakes, at the slave cylinder located near the clutch bell housing area, but usually a bad pedal is from the clutch being worn out.
