Check the brake (stop) light switch mounted on the upper brake pedal. It's got a plug in wire attached, $10 part.

I have a problem with my running lights they don't work but the brake lights backup lights headlights hazards they all work what could be the problem

each of these sets of lights use a different fuse and relay set. Look for the parkiong lights fuse either in the inside fuse box or the one under the hood. This is most likely the problem. If the fuse is good look for a relay that might have failed. Let us know if you have more questions.

'99 Expedition brake lights aren't turning on when pressing brake

It could be a number of things, the good news is that none of them are serious or expensive to fix.

The normal components that make up your brake circut are:

1. The brake light fuse (In the fuse box and labeled as such)
2. The brake light switch/relay - also called a stop light switch. It's under the dash, right behind the brake pedal arm. When you push the brake, it sends a signal to the lights which turns them on. Think of the dome light switch in the door jam of your truck. When you open the door, it releases the switch and your dome light pops on. Same thing with the brake light switch.
3. The bulbs in the tail lights and the 3rd brake light.
If none of them are working, it's most likely a fuse or the switch/relay under the dash. If it's the switch, it's a $12 part. Obviously fuses are only a couple bucks.

Where is the relay for the hi mount brake light ona 1996 chevy s10? Brake lights work but hi mount does not. Checked the bulbs, and fuse is good. Manual says there is a relay.

the magic one does all relay or the hiding multipurpose magic relay ,think you will find that the light runs off a loop from one of the back lights .

Chevy s10 brake lights

If the problem is that the brake lights will not turn off, the problem is most likely the CHMSL relay. An easy check is to take the cover off the fuse block mounted on the driver's side fender well and swap the fog lamp relay with the CHMSL relay. If that fixes it, just get a new relay for the fog lamps and you're good to go. Note, my 2002 s10 does not have fog lamps, but it still had the relay populated in the fuse block.

Brake light on 2001 chevy blazer LT 2wd

When my blazer did this they had to replace part of the wiring harness in the steering wheel. It took forever for them to get the parts because we live in nowhereville, but once it was in it works again and no problems. I had to take it to the actual chevy dealer because none of the other places had a clue. good luck.
