How do i use overdrive

Leave your over-drive 'on' during most all driving periods. You should only have to shut it off if you are pulling a heavy load at speeds less than 30mph. Leaving the over-drive off will consume more gas as the transmission is set into a lower gear ratio.

That light is to let you know the overdrive cancel button is on. Does the dransmission downshift out of overdrive when you push the button? If so i would suspect a bad buld or a broken wire in the shifter assembly. If it does not downshift then good chance the button is bad, dont know if you can still buy this new.

yes but if he rebuilt it you should have some kind of warrenty with this guy If you dont get satfation go to small clain court the overdrive is part of ths Transmission.

The D nearest to N is the overdrive. In every day driving just leave it in overdrive. When climbing or decending steep hills you can downshift into Drive, this will prevent the transmission from constantly shifting between gears.

I have seen multiple trucks with similar fuse blowing problem and have found most are caused by a shorted out overdrive switch or wiring inside the steering column. Usually this is triggered by moving the shifter or something on the column though usually the shifter since thats where the overdrive switch is mounted. If the wiring is the problem after the connector in the column then you have to replace the entire shift lever since the wiring for the overdrive switch is integral to the shift lever.

The D inside of an O is for overdrive. It is an automatic overdrive transmission. There isn't an overdrive button on it. If you want to disable the overdrive you have to shift down a gear.

Sunfires and cavaliers always reved a bit higher because of the way they are built but it is an AEOD transmission (Automatic Electronic OverDrive). Since I dont know what rpm and how fast you are going it is hard to tell if there is a probleme or not. I would compare with another similar car and decide what to do.

well not having overdrive has nothing to do with the motor you are having transmisson trouble and the first thing you need to do is get the tranni serviced flushed new filter and put a quart of lucas tranni treatment in i have seen that stuff stop tranni slip it worked in the 1999 envoy i have right now and do not floor it any more that will send your tranni to a early grave

What overdrive does it gives you more revs so you can overtake another car or helps you towing, if i were you i would be looking at your gearbox as the overdrive function uses that to do its job.
