I lost the key to my 2000 mustang convertible. V6

I lost the key to my 2000 mustang convertible. V6 auto trans. Does anyone know if I can use the old drill and screwdriver method to start it? or does the key have one of those chips that will disable the car. If it does have one of those chips, is there anyway to get round it? I don't hav the money to have it rekeyed

You should be able to go to the dealer with your owners card and drivers license to the ford dealer and they should be able to make you a key from the vin code. The reasone for the ID is anyone could go with your vin and get a key made so they require this.

You should contact a good lock smith, most of thease guys can re programme a new key all you need is to remove the door lock and a new key can be cut from this. Also they will be half the price or more than a dealer.

1983 v6 is no fun

give me a welder and a set of gas bottles and i will fit anything into whatever you like.but to be honest i do think your biggest problem will be the wiring.want to really hot it up put a jag engine in.but its most likely worth more in its original condition.high compression engine and not subject to having to fit a cat.but you could still fit the manual gearbox though.OK for when your europeon cousins visit as most of us lot in europe especially spain and italy wouldnt know how to drive an auto, they are only for old and disabled people.plus they cost a lot of money extra to have when you buy a vehicle and thats only if you can get it in an auto, very few manufacturers build europeon cars in autos

V6 automatic to v6 standard

Hi There CK49ers,
What you'll need is a replacement manual box. Choose the one that you'llk enjoy the most....Four speed or five....You'll also need to make sure that the box comes with the clutch master and slave cylinders....Go to a breakers yard and find a clutch and brake pedal....The brake pedal in the auto is much wider than will able to be used in the manual....I'm not very sure with your vehicle but you may need to check the starter motor fixing position. make sure that the CPU will be suitable for manual and if not, you'll have to replace that too.... When you're ready for more help let us know, and we'll be here for you.

Best regards
