What is the best way to tighten axle nut to torque spec? While the wheel on the ground or put a screw driver in the rotor air cool vents? And if you put on the ground will it break or damage the inner cv joint?

Run it up finger tight and then tighten it as much as possible with a socket. Then let it down off the jack and torque it to specs.
