After driving my car home from work, about an hour drive, i parked it in the driveway and got out. I went inside and i heard a boom. I ran outside and it started smoking and all my coolant has leaked out. What do i need to do???
Sounds like it wasn't cooling properly. When a hot car is stopped, so is the coolant, and it is highly likely that the pressure will build until something gives. Typically this 'something' is the relief on the cap. I would carefully look for the source of the coolant. After you locate that, see what caused it to break (which from the sounds of things, it did break something) and replace that, along with the thermostat, which is likely the reason it overheated. When replacing the thermostat and re-filling the engine with coolant, some cars can be real bears to get the air out of the coolant. IF this isn't done correctly and promptly, the thermostat will not be able to open, since it works on fluid contact, NOT air temp. This may be a job best left to a mechanic.
You need to check the broken hose where the coolant came out. Replace it and check why your car overheated: maybe the thermostat, maybe the radiator fan is not working, or maybe even your water pump. If it is the first time, check your radiator fan and your temp sensor first.
