The code is specific to a system, in your case the third and fourth gear. you might want to check you cam shaft sensor amd also there is a different sensor under the distutor i had to replace both of these on my 95 jeep grand cherokee laredo
that depends on what is the cause of the problem in the box,,if you took the box sump down all you can realy do it change the oil filter or clean it, thats about all you could do yourself,,,there is nothing more than that,,, the 3rd and 4th gears are driven by cluches if there slipping its a rebuild sorry,,,bad news realy
Yes it can be caused by low quality fuel, and your gas cap not being installed properly. Best bet is the gas cap, so take it off and screw it back on. Then take your vehicle to autozone and hook up diagnostics to clear your MIL.
