Engine flutter I have a 1995 Nissan Maxima and all of a sudden it has a flutter. Won't run smooth, especially in idle. Feels like it might be missing a cylinder. I changed spark plugs and fuel filter. Still hasn't solved the problem. Any ideas? Rick

Is there a check engine light on? Does it run well at other speeds? A stall at idle could be from a low idle ( the idle may have to be relearned using a shop computer). You may have a vacuum leak on a hose leaning out the motor and causing a stall. I would scan test the check engine for codes if it is on and possibly give yu a basis to start
there are a few things that could cause this , have you had the engine serviced regulary ?get the OBD codes read as may be the EGR valve or the Idle Control , clogged injectors , clogged exhaust , i'd try a fuel addative that covers the catalytic convertor as well as the engine parts , take for a longish run say 100 kilometers at a highish speed to get the engine to a good hot operating temperature
Feels like a wire breaking down , at idle and under a load ,but funny thing . ( no wires ) get that ha ha . I guess I've been at of the business too long. Is that a coil pack on top of the valve cover ?
