Random firing cylinder reading....car loses power when going from a complete stop to taking off. It is not the air filter, fuel filter, or fuel pump. Car only has 70K miles. Could it really be a transmission issue?
I will have that checked. Thanks! Hopefully it is something as simple as that. Transmissions are expensive!I will have that checked. Thanks! Hopefully it is something as simple as that. Transmissions are expensive!

Random misfires could be gas related- low fuel pressure, vacuum leaks or air leaks upsetting the air/fuel mixture ratio, clogged air filter or fuel filter. Could be ignition related- worn spark plugs, possibly. Or could be an internal mechanical problem-possible valve train malfunction.
Start with a fuel pressure test. check vacuum hoses for leaks, check intake manifold and throttle body assembly for leaks. If you have an exhaust leak at or near the engine, can cause misfires. Air going into the engine is metered by the mass air flow sensor in the big air boot on the throttle body. If extra air gets into the engine through a vacuum leak or a loose hose, the engine computer won't know it, so the air/fuel mixture will be too lean, resulting in misfiring. Several things to check-good luck.
hi t5here my name is don did you replace the fuel filter since it almost ran out of gas it is likely that it picked up sludge from the tank also gm fuel pumps get heir lubrication from the fuel if it ran dry the fuel pump could be the culprit
I would check the fuel filter first also put about 8 oz of dextron 111 transmission fluid in t5he fuel tank it may free up sticking injectors and fuel pump and it also helps clean the system out
first you have to do tune up. fuel filter, spark plugs, air filter, clean trottle body ,trottle plate, it's hard to say like that but it seems fuel pump relay or fuel pump have pressure test check.catalytic converter to.
You need three things for an internal combustion engine to work, air, fuel and fire.
Is it getting all the above? Is there fire getting to the plugs? Is there fuel getting to the cylinders? Is it getting air?
If the answer is yes to all the above, then it should turn over and fire.
Possible causes for it not starting...
Not getting air - Check air filter, or just take it out.
Not getting fuel - Check your fuel pump, check your fuel filter, check your gas tank.
Not getting spark- Check wires, check plugs, replace as necessary.
If all the above is GO, then I'd have someone check the timing.
Pop the heed, see the air box on the very left? On top of that box is the Ignition Control Unit. Little black square w/ winds about 1/2"
thick....
That is the problem. Or Your MAF sensor...
I don't know how to chech the Ignition Control Unit with out the proper tester.
But the MAF is located directly below in side the box.
If you POP off the large hose that comes out of the front of the air box. You can see the MAF, spreay it some contact cleaner for electronics not BREAK CLEANER>>>>>>.
Ok you will have to have it scanned. It probably has cylinder misfire codes and random cylnder misfires. You could need spark plugs and or coils. The scan will tell you exactly which cylinder is missing. That will cure your problem and remember to change your oil and filter right before you go in for the smog test.
Also if the car hasn't been serviced in a while it would be a good idea to replace the air filter and fuel filter.
I will have that checked. Thanks! Hopefully it is something as simple as that. Transmissions are expensive!
