The AC Compressor bearings on my Jeep are completely shot. There is grey residue all around the bearings area and I started smelling burned electronics smell. Can the AC Compressor bearings be replaced or do I have to get a new AC Compressor? If it can be replaced, how difficult of a job is that?

it will be one of two things...............either your brakes are sticking on slightly (frozen caliper) and its heating up because of the drag.................or the wheel bearings are shot and heating up when you drive it.................. that's all it can possibly be. If you aren't good with the tools then its off to the garage for this issue.
check your engine belts. if they are intact, check the air conditioner compressor. the bearings may be worn out. which makes the compressor seize. the belt would continue to move over the compressor unit, and cause the burning smell. a jump start should start the car.
Sounds like the AC compressor is going bad. Have the compressor tested and I'm sure the belt is what you were smelling. make sure nothing is touching the AC belt. If the compressor stops working properly the belt will burn. Solution= replace compressor and belt.
sounds like the clutch field on or bearing on the front of the compressor went bad take a closer look at the pulley on the comp. and see if there is any debris or melted plastic coming out behind the pulley,if so the clutch, field and bearing should be replaced, hope this helps
Smoke from under the hood ?
Smells like burnt rubber ?
Either the compressor or the comtressor clutch is bad so it locks up wen you urn it on and the fan belt is burning..
