Car will not start? Does starter run, but the engine does not turn? - most likely starter. Does starter run, engine turn, but will not start? -multitude of issues. Nothing turns at all? - Battery, starter, solenoid, ignition switch, cables,...

For an "off-hand remark" the tow driver is pretty much on the mark. Only careful testing will reveal the solution though.

My car does not start after 3 months in the garage...the headlights and other light work, horn works, hazard lights work...but no electricity when i turn the key...the dash panels don't even light up.

First check the battery terminals. CLEAN THEM in and out
Otherwise
If you hear a click when you turn the key and the lights dim then it sat longer than 3 months.
If a stick shift you could get it loosened up by towing it in gear.
Use a breaker bar and pipe to turn the main crankshaft
Many other reasons

Lights flicker

When my headlights started to flicker at night, I soon found out it was the battery. It died one night sitting in a friend's driveway with the radio and headlights on. My battery was over 5 years old at the time, and the tow truck driver said I was lucky to have it work that long. I purchased a new battery and the lights no longer flicker at night. Just a suggestion. Hope this helps you.

Went to store car would not start check gauges light came on battery showed low, but has a 4 month old new battery.

Either you left a light on for a while, commonly headlights and dome lights, or the alternator is bad.

Get a jump start and run the engine for a while, it should charge the battery if it was just you left the lights on.

If the car won't stay running, take a trip to Autozone and have them test your alternator (don't worry, it's free and can be done in the car if you would rather tow the car than try to remove the alternator).

My car wont start, headlights good

Headlights are not a good indicator of how much power the battery has. The power required to start a car is much greater than what is needed to power the headlights. This is common in cold climates when the temperatures drop well below freezing. A jump start or a slow charge from a battery charger should get the car started. Most batteries have a shelf life of about 4 years depending on variables such as climate, electrical options on the car etc. If the battery is 4 years old or older, consider changing it. If it's less than 4 years old, it should recharge once the car is started.

91 Accord LX 2 dr 4 cyl just put new battery with 5oo cold cranking amps-NO Start! Owner said car has had perpetual problems holding a charge and starting! About 3mo ago Owner charged the old Die hard...

If you manage to get it started, check the alternator output...I'm betting it is bad. Should be making no less than 12.5 with accessories all on, 13.5 to 14 with just engine running. Bad alt can drain battery even when off depending what failed inside it. Towing with a chain is not really a good idea. the cross pin in those differentials are not very good and can fail.

1991 Honda Accord Wagon

If the battery was dead for more that 36 hours, or if you had the battery out of the car for more than 36 hours, you will have to have it towed to a dealer and have the ECU anti-theaft system reset. It may be less than 36 hours. Maybe it's 12 hours. Something like that. Call the dealer and ask about it. They'll be gald to fill you in.
