Try testing the switch and then the relay. Usually its the switch. Use a flat screw driver to pull it s out of there connector. Use a jumper wire and shop manual to jump the terminals and see if the lights come on. If they do its the switch.
The relay you check for continuity and resistance.

1993 VW Fox a/c blower does not work on 4 (high speed) It's not the switch for sure because I've by passed it and still no high speed.

This is not the resistor. There is a relay on the fuse board that makes the fan's full speed work, it must be replaced or refurbished. Any additional questions, please email me [email protected] Greetings from Brazil!

1999 vw polo driver side reverse light wont turn on. checked the fuse and its good. checked the wire going to socket and it has no power. what do i do next?

You've done most of the work, its tracing back along the socket wire to find a bad connection. Invariably its a bad earth.

My 88 vw fox wagons oil light consantly flickers. I just changed the oil and oil filter. Any wag I can make this stop. And the speedometer is reading wrong and the dash lights don't work and fuel gauge...

I think that you should check fuses for the gauges. But it might be a bad wire shorting out. I also have seen these cars to blow all the dash lights before. As far as the oil light there is a sensor that goes into the oil pan or the block that may be dirty or shorting out.

1992 VW Polo 1.3L Coupe: warning light mystery

Bought a very reputable diy service manual for the vehicle, and that plus a bit of thought and nous gave me the cure: no intrinsic problem other than loose relay connections. Went round with the wiring diagrams as guide checking all electrical connections in tight and relays fuses etc all good. Switched on and no problem any more.

By the way, vehicle is 1992 VW Polo - not Fox (which in UK is a variant of the Polo)
