I assube you mean a B. All 24v B's have three possible places up to '03. One the rear of the head, between it and the fire wall. Two, above the lift pump, the large line T's from the head and the pump returning to the tank. Three, at the rear of the injection pump on the mount. Can't miss em. They are 3/4" or 19mm (same size). Harry,there are two failure modes for your problem. If you get a C.E.L. when the problem happens, you will be able to retrieve the codes and will probably find TPS circuit failure codes.The TPS (or APPS) has a flat spot and at the magic position, will drop the engine to an idle.A couple of full throttle applications on the pedal will usually cure the porblem for the moment.Replace the sensor assembly (very expensive).The other mode is a similar drop to idle but without a C.E.L. This is usually corrected by shutting the truck off and re-starting it.This indicates a brain failure on the VP44 injection pump.The solder joints become crystallised on the circuit board from excessive heat cycles. This will create poor connections on the board and cause a loss of power and drop to idle.You can either replace the pump (also very expensive) or if you are mechanically inclined, you can source a brain and solenoid assembly and replace it on the pump. Is it an electronic engine or the boch inline fuel pump? They chaned half way through 98. If its an inline pump there is a hand primer on the fuel lift pump on the side of the engine, just keep pumping it until you hear the relief valve on the injection pump hissing, it should start then, if not loosen a couple fuel lines at the injectors and turn it over a few times to bleed the air from the lines.
