Ive got a 1992 ford escort and the radio, interior light, cigarette lighter and clock fuse keeps blowing. Ive taken out all of them seperately and it seems that the problem isnt caused by one thing and i have been advised that a wire has been stripped somewhere and is shorting out. does anyone know where this could be?

According to my info, each of these items has its own fuse. ARe you saying 1 fuse keeps blowing?

If a fuse blows, it means a wire is shorted to ground or that an item the fuse is protecting, is bad.

A good way to diagnose this, is to place a 12 volt buzzer or bulb in place of the fuse that keeps blowing. This will give you a light or buzz noise. Then, you disconnect times or wire connectors until the noise stops or the light goes out. Then investiagte that circuit.

Radio fuse keeps blowing on 99 ford escort zx2

I would say there is a short somewhere. You can get a resetable fuse.

Where is the fuse for cigarette lighter ??

on the inside fuse panel, in your owners manual it more than likley will be labeled under courtesy lights, which run your radio interior lights, dash lights, and your cigarette lighter

Radio does not turn on. the clock shows, the light

The memory wire of the radio,(the power for the clock and channel settings) is usually connected to the same circuit as the cigarette lighter. (there is a seperate fuse for radio) Check your cigarette lighter socket for damage or dirt, etc. could be causing the memory fuse to blow. Also check your cig lighter accesories (like cell phone chargers, etc.)

P.S. The backlight is also a seperate circuit (connected to interior light/parking light circuit)

Radio, cigarette lighter, clock display went out on my '03 Toyota tundra. 20 amp radio fuse looks ok. Are there any other fuses I should check out? Thanks. TD

Under the hood there is some. Not sure about your application, but it might control interior stuff too. It will be a bigger amperage than normally inside the car though

Radio fuse keeps blowing

make sure nothing in cig lighter socket..coins,etc..if nothing present, unplug cig lighter socket and replace fuse..if fuse doesn't blow,it's the socket causing fault..if it does, unplug radio, plug cig lighter back in and replace fuse..if fuse doesn't blow, radio is cause of fault..if it does, then ther is short in wiring
